24 Clubs THE CALIFORNIA SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATION under the leadership of President-Debbie Smart had an active first semester. They had a Rummage sale, participated in the all-school Christmas Tree sale, gave a Christmas party for the senior citizens at the Casa Bonita Retirement home, Tutored students at Western and participated in the ALL Southern California CSF night at Disneyland. THE NATIONAL FORENSIC LEAGUE was involved in both tournament and service club contests. This year three of Western,s seniors had the opportunity to participate in the Bicentennial youth debate. Cheryl Adams represented Western in debate, Holly Beilman in persuasive speaking and Sandi Schoales in extemperaneous speaking. The MGM program tMentally Gifted Minorsj, a state funded project, was active in different fields ofeducation. The students made field trips to the Getty Museum and the University of California, Irvine,--in addition to making several television productions ofcampus activities. They also attended dramatic readings and had guest discussion speakers. M Students Had One ofthe MGM's biggest contributions to Westhi students was the Wednesday lunch showing of classic films of former ' ' stars such as Charley Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy and Buster C O m a S S Keaton. The series was named The Comedy Film Festival. Their photos graced the bulletin boards throughout the classrooms and in the administration building, and in the yearbook. Many activities and individual portraits were the end result on many rolls of films. Without this club, Western graduates wouldn't have the fun oflooking back and saying uthis is me? ath 8a Science Clubs Were Active Groups The MATH CLUB participated in the Anaheim-Halloween Festival and began a new and inspiring trend with the Computer Matching service. They also sold Crunchies at the Country Fair. This year's SCIENCE CLUB was in many activities, starting with the Clean Campus project. And also presented guest speakers for the students of Western High. The club also had many field trips to Cal State, Fullerton Science Department and Sea World.
