The MGM program tMentally Gifted Minorsj, a state funded project, was active in different fields ofeducation. The students made field trips to the Getty Museum and the University of California, Irvine,--in addition to making several television productions ofcampus activities. They also attended dramatic readings and had guest discussion speakers. M Students Had One ofthe MGM's biggest contributions to Westhi students was the Wednesday lunch showing of classic films of former ' ' stars such as Charley Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy and Buster C O m a S S Keaton. The series was named The Comedy Film Festival. Their photos graced the bulletin boards throughout the classrooms and in the administration building, and in the yearbook. 22 Clubs Girls' League Gave Traditional Service to School Activities ' . 'Q' This year, Girls' League was again the sponsor of many activities and traditions, such as the Homecoming Mum Sale, the Christmas Formal, the Valentineis Day Carnation Sale, the Chocolate Easter Bunny Sale, in addition to many service projects for the school and the community. 24 Clubs THE CALIFORNIA SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATION under the leadership of President-Debbie Smart had an active first semester. They had a Rummage sale, participated in the all-school Christmas Tree sale, gave a Christmas party for the senior citizens at the Casa Bonita Retirement home, Tutored students at Western and participated in the ALL Southern California CSF night at Disneyland. THE NATIONAL FORENSIC LEAGUE was involved in both tournament and service club contests. This year three of Western,s seniors had the opportunity to participate in the Bicentennial youth debate. Cheryl Adams represented Western in debate, Holly Beilman in persuasive speaking and Sandi Schoales in extemperaneous speaking.
