22 Clubs Girls' League Gave Traditional Service to School Activities ' . 'Q' This year, Girls' League was again the sponsor of many activities and traditions, such as the Homecoming Mum Sale, the Christmas Formal, the Valentineis Day Carnation Sale, the Chocolate Easter Bunny Sale, in addition to many service projects for the school and the community. The Thespians had two winners at the California State, Long Beach, Drama Festival. Randy Skretvedt won the Best Actor award and Gary Parkhouse the best supporting. The Westhi group also traveled to Valley College in Los Angeles for a Drama competition. This year the Thespians performed several plays on campus, one ofwhich included Skretvedt's original, High School and Other Insults. The final production was The Rainmaker . In addition to their many performances, the Thespians raised funds by selling You Bug Me Rocks and their St. Patrick's Green Bagel Salef, Advisor: Mr. Doug Phelps. The Group competed in a district-wide tournament and in other business and typing events throughout the county and state. The FBLA'ers held regular meetings to study new business methods and trends. The MGM program tMentally Gifted Minorsj, a state funded project, was active in different fields ofeducation. The students made field trips to the Getty Museum and the University of California, Irvine,--in addition to making several television productions ofcampus activities. They also attended dramatic readings and had guest discussion speakers. M Students Had One ofthe MGM's biggest contributions to Westhi students was the Wednesday lunch showing of classic films of former ' ' stars such as Charley Chaplin, Laurel and Hardy and Buster C O m a S S Keaton. The series was named The Comedy Film Festival. Their photos graced the bulletin boards throughout the classrooms and in the administration building, and in the yearbook. Many activities and individual portraits were the end result on many rolls of films. Without this club, Western graduates wouldn't have the fun oflooking back and saying uthis is me?
