From the beginning, all systems were 'GO', as students poured their energy into activities which exemplified Westhi pride and traditions. School spirit was evident in every activity: from the rousing football games, traced back to long hard hours of practiceg from a band concert traced back to hot summer aftemoon rehearsalsg from a peppy songleading routine which sprang from long ses- sions at the drawing board. Student devotion to their school was manifest in projects they instigated and saw completed dur- ing the year they spent at Westem. For some, success was evident in the Student Park, which was dedicated in 1970. For others it was the smooth and efficient running of the Homecoming Corona- tion. Through service to their school, and in anxious preparation, Pioneers epitomized the word 'action', and to them-action meant progress! -Q N jr 1 1,1 , - VOYAGE TO THE FUTURE -

Tomorrow As unpredictable as the people who compose the world we know. . . This tomorrow must be faced by millions of people who hold as many different outlooks upon it. Idealistic youth wish to change it, but even we cannot agree upon a single solution to the wor1d's problems- violence: racial, ecological, and economical. Most of us will inwardly rebel against the system, then become part of it. The dreams of youth will fade into the memories of yesterday, or perhaps become a bleak hope for the next generation. Tomorrow will be a voyage into the dark void of time, through which we all must pass. Some of us will travel as leaders, paving the way for the more abundant fol- lowers. Some of us will seek the light of knowledgeg others will find security in whatever place they find them- selvesg and some of us will never be able to find ourselves at all. . .
