Western's service personnel seldom received enough praise or recognition for the necessary duties they per- formed. Their kindlv services enabled others to have more time. Such jobs as typing absence lists, answering telephone calls, preparing lunches, and sweeping halls all kept Western functioning smoothly and efficiently. With a working staff of over 75 well-educated people, it was a task for one teacher to get acquainted with every other teach- er. With such a large group, a sort of in- spirational and spirit-building unit was also gathered. Teachers assisted the cheerleaders and other school organizations in raising the spirits and voices of the Pioneers at football rallies. A large number of teachers decor- ated their classrooms during Beat Anaheim week and some rooms never took down their banners and mourning garb. As the year came to an end, the teachers who contributed to help keep spirit alive would look back and re- member those times when they be- came an active part of the school. 23
