One of man's greatest advance- ments is his ability to speak and communicate his thoughts to others. He has made speaking and Writing an art as well as an accomplishment. The English classes at Western were designed to develop this art among its students. ' ' ' S School is not all studies, books and homework for an elite corps of service personnel that are necessary for any or- ganization to function prop- erly. These people very seldom receive a thank you for their Workf but praise is not a part of their routine-just Work. The custodians kept the campus spotless by Working day and night shifts. After school they cleaned and swept the classrooms for the next day. Forewarned by the noon bell, the cafeterians prepared hot lunches for a starving pack of Pioneers. Winter rains and cold weather kept the indoor cafeteria bustling, While many students turned to the outdoor concession stands under more pleasant autumn and spring conditions. The office staff Worked long hours in the attendance and unit oflices keeping the busi- ness aspects of the school run- ning smoothly. Library clerks issued books to the students and collected fines for overdue books.
