APPRECIATION Fifty years ago, Jean Burke was graduated from Western High School in the Class of 1916. Now, .lean B. Wheeler, nee Burke, is graduating as an honorary member of the Class of 1966. Ever since we entered Western, Mrs. Wheeler has worked with us as a counselor, a teacher, a friend. As she is leaving with us, we regard her less as a counselor or a teacher and more as a friend. The Guidance Department is not alone in its loss. For last year, the faculty lost a dedicated member in the person of Harriet C. Kellemen, head of the History Department. ln the same year, Lucille B. Haley stepped down as head of the English Department, and now, she is leaving teaching altogether. She leaves a place which will be hard to till. Our loss is compounded by the retirement of Miriam E. Jones, head of the Home Economics Department. To each of these teachers, we offer our sincere gratitude for all their years of service. As teachers, they have given a part of themselves in their work, as pupils, we have received that part and will carry it, along with our memo- ries, as a living tribute to them. ,Z

5. ,V s ...' , I MR. CHARLES HAYES :Q ,, .,., . N X APPRECIATION When we entered Western, in September of 1962, we were full of ambitions and ideas, but we were uncertain how they might best be fulfilled, how they might best become realities. Under the direction of Mrs. Marjorie Rudie and Mrs. Mary Harbaugh, financial advisor, our ideas were synthesized, our plans effected. In September of 1965, Mrs. Harbaugh stepped forward to become our advisor, and Mr. Charles Hayes filled her former position as financial advisor. 'Through the genuine enthusiasm, interest and cooperation of our ad- visors, this last year has been particularly meaningful to all of us, and it is with our most sincere feelings of gratitude that we express our appreciation.
