It will remain unchanged long after our gradua- tion. Therefore, this lasting reminder of Western must be dedicated thoughtfully. To Mrs. Viola R. Burns, our year adviser, the class of 1951 dedicates this book. She has been our friend and guide for four years, and we are grateful for all that she has done for us. VIOLA R. BURNS To the Class of 1951: As you leave your school days behind you and face the challenge of the adult world. may you have courage to meet each problem as it presents itself, and sympathy to understand each person who crosses your pathway. May you look back on your high school experiences and find that you have been trained in the ways of ordered liberty and democracy. Our best wishes go with you always. try' ' 'Q ' Prizlfifmf ROBERTA G. WHITE ELSA C. HAUPT S M wt 3 si FACULTY THE Faculty PRINCIPAL MILDRED M. COUGI-ILIN ART DEPARTMENT Grace H. May your future be as successful as your past has been at Western! 59 CLASS OF 1952 OFFICERS OF 195 3 Prerident Vice President Corresponding Secrelnry JOYCE LAFF PATRICIA PIELERT CAROL SANDERS Recording Secretary Treasurer BETTYE MORRIS JOAN KANEFSKY Dear 1951 Graduates, As we look back through our Sophomore year, we remember the fun we have had working and planning for our class activities. Our first big clay was the Sophomore-Senior Party, the Square Dance, where we got acquainted with many of you, our big sisters. Next came the contest for our class song. We chose '53, Oh '53 to the tune of On, Wisconsin. Then, after the Christmas holidays, we were busy planning and rehearsing for Sophomore Day, which we hope you enjoyed. Now, as we are approaching our first year as upperclassmen of Western High School, we are determined to follow in your footsteps and uphold the high ideals you have set before us. Congratulations on finally reaching your long-awaited goal of graduation. As you, our big sisters of '51, leave Western, you take with you our best wishes for success and happiness in your chosen careers. Very sincerely yours, CLASS OF 1953 40 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF 1954 Fin! roux' Marian Trieger, Assistant Acting Secretary, Dorothy Stallings, Acting Secre- taryg Barbara Sussman, Chairmang Lois Ann Bratt. Acting Treasurer. Second row: Patricia McGinn, Phyllis Respess, Virginia Schmidt, Cynthia Smith, Eileen Klein, Peggy Rush, Ruth Siegel, Dorothy Harwood, Sandra Sinn, Juanita Frost. Dear Class of '51, As your Senior year at Western draws to a close, we, the Freshmen, wish to extend our best wishes to you. We are just starting the path which is now at an end for you. Graduation sounds like a long way off to us, but we don't believe the time will drag here at Western. For when there is so much to learn, and there are so many activities to join, time slips by unnoticed. Our year activities are already under way with the help of the Executive Committee pictured above. They will be the leaders of '54 until next term when our year oflicers will be elected. Why, your Freshmen days probably seem like yesterday. Do you remember how you felt that first day in high school? How you wandered around lost and seemed to be in everyone's way? The Junior-Freshman Party given in your honor by your sister year? Remember that biology lesson on dissecting a frog the period before lunch and how you just couldn't eat that day? Perhaps someday as you gaze upon this page in your yearbook, you'll smile as you recall these things and your days at Western High once again. Now as our friends we would like to say, May you be successful in whatever you undertake, and 'May your life have just enough clouds to make a pretty sunset.'
