In 1924 the late Mijor Alexander W Mnsh U S A was appointed instructor for the First Regiment and Captain Williim udkms for the Second Regiment The Regi mental Competitixe Drill was introduced for the first time in 1933 and has been successfully continued At that date the Corps consisted of three regiments and two bind Major john S Donovan U S A who had been with the Third Regiment was trinsferred to the First Reviment in 1925 and M ijor Raymond G Payne bee une connected with the Third Regiment Eastern ind Western One of the most nnportmt of the eompetitixes that had novt been introduced was the Annual Distinguished NonCJm missioned Ofhcers Competition The purpose ofthe contest was to determine the ou tmding non commissioned officer of the Brivide It is till held eieh ye nr it the Camp my Competitxxe Drill In the fall of 1926 Captain David Van Pelt was appointed Instructor for the Ste ind Regiment Later the Brigade was grieved by the death of Captain Van Pelt a man whom all xdmired The Cadet Uniform ha been el11I1UeLI a number ot times the most radie il of which occurring when the lapel eollir now worn by th eidets toole the place of the h1 h stiff collar of the ni t The new collar beeame a great asset to the next ippearxnce of the Corps During these years the Cadet Brigide continued to expand and grovs It participated in numerous eremonies of the different kinds Mr Frank Daniel principal of McKinley high school as Brigade Commander headed the Corps in President McKinley s Inaugural Parade In 1929 selected companies represented the Corps and marched in the Inaugural have had a part Early in 1931 Major Maish and 'vigor Donoxan were restored to their war time rank th it of Colonel and Lieutenant Colonel respectively Later Colonel M ush became ill and was replaced by Lieutenant Colonel Frank Moorman to whom we owe a debt of gratitude for his services Colonel Miish failed to recover from his illness ind died in the fall of the same year In him the Cadet Corps lost a true friend who had given hi service to us for a number of years Captain Robert W Norton U S A relieved Mmjor Payne of his duties at Eastern In the early part of 1932 the Corps participated in numerous celebrations of the George Washington Bicentennial The most interesting of these was the Army Day Parade in which the entire Brigade took part In 1933 the P M S EQ' T Lieutenant Colonel Craigie and his staff of assistint instructors were remoxed from office by a national economy act which wis passed in Congress during the summer This was indeed 1 xery hard blow to the Cidet Corps one from which it would have been hard to recover had not Lieutenant 'Colonel Craigie kindly volunteered his serxices as Cadet Instructor For this generous act th Corps holds him high in their esteem Lieutenant Paul L Doerr of the Infantry Reserxe was appointed Assistant P M S E99 T Various teachers have taken oxer the positions of military instructors for each regiment and have continued as such for the past three years The Corps 15 also highly indebted to these men who haxe so faithfully xolunteered their services In 1933 the Cadets participated in the inaugural parade of President Franklin D Roosexelt In November of this year the Corps through the Brigade Commander placed a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington This impressue ceremony was introduced by Dr Stephen E Kramer hxe years ago We are this year celebrating the hfty second annixersary of the Cadet Corps We feel mighty proud that me belong to such a high type of organization As the command Pass In Rex 1ew' is gn en another Brigade will march on into the history of the Wash ington High School Cadet Corps looking into the future as in the past to an exer more successful Brigade Fifteen ' ' .
