W J X 2 2 I From the furnace room at Wl-IS to the art gallery in New York Cityl That is along way, but it would take that distance to hold the interest, the love, the dedication of one man tor his students as they sit around the tables silently concentrating and creating, This man has the unique ability ot motivating the individual so that the hidden potential begins to shape and form and become a beautiful creation on canvas. To Clyde Fowler it isn't the location but the student and the surrounding atmosphere that counts. - Art can cheer one, sadden one, and - sometimes touch a hidden door in the mind and open a new vista in a life. We at WHS feel that our ability to see and appreciate beauty has been enhanced by the ettorts ot this teacher. We tind him to be a friend to teachers and students alike knowing where to draw the fine line which separates one from the other. Teacher - chaperone - motivator - triend: the man with the dark glasses and long hair, the wearer ofthe patched blue jeans, With love and pride we dedicate the i974-75 We-l-li-Wa to Mr. Clyde Fowler. -if . ,,. :S fC'g if f X. f 2 H,-1, gi K ,.,.,, fi jgfi Nw, 'W A 'SM ,211 All if me l l l l l i i l l X l Leaving Our Best With You, The moments or hours which you spend pondering through our version of The Way We Were hopefully will reflect upon each of you in a special way. Once our paths are crossed we will never have the chance to retrace the exact steps again except through conjectured illusions while thumbing fthroughl these 208 pages, therefore, let this copy of the We- l-li-Wa serve as memories for your future dreams and expectations of today. Each of us has played a role in the recorded achievements in this book. Each individual has contributed his time, moods, successes, failures, and personalities to our reflection glass. Western High School is not made up separately of principal, teachers, and students - but all of us are one. The l975 edition of the We-Hi-Wa is our legacy to you. Having yesterday's goals and today's realities, cherish them now - reflect upon them in the near future to remember The Way We Were. Our appreciation goes to Leah Davis, associate editor and to the entire staff. Special gratitude is expressed to Mrs. Barbara Roark, Mrs. Loyce Petersen, and Mr. Gordon Plumblee for their guidence in publishing the l3th Volume of the We-Hi-Wa.
