Achieves After many postponements, the l.R.C. finally held its Model United Nations Assembly on March 17. Highlights of the Assembly included a heated dis- cussion over the admittance of Wounded Knee into the United Nations and an assassination attempt in the dark. Afterwards a dance was sponsored in the cafeteria by the l.R.C. The event was capped off by the beginning of the snowstorm that blanketed the area and prevented cleanup until the roads had been cleared. Understanding

student council Council Represents Student Body mil 3 This year's Student Council kept itself and the school busy by sponsoring many events. Dances came back into popularity this year in the form of after game mixers. Two concerts were given during the year, a break in the usual school day routine. A mod- ern dance assembly and a judo demonstration also kep the Stu- dent Council busy. Besides entertaining the student body Student Council sponsored student Exchange days with con- ference schools and received permission to sell ice cream dur- ing Iunches. Service projects in- cluded the supporting of an American underpriveledged boy and the annual auction to raise money for a childrens burn cen- ter in Saigon. 62

The fourteenth annual honors assembly sponsored by the N.H.S. presented many old awards and also some newones. The program began with the in- duction of 19 new members into N.H.S. qualifying in the catego- ries of character, scholarship, leadership, and service. The as- sembly proceeded with awards for Scholarship, attendance, G.A.A. Valedictorian, Salutatori- an,to namejusta few. Also this years assembly was the scene of the new I dare you award presented to Alison Be- van and Howdy Snyder by Mr. Dunnuck. The idea behind this unique award is to present a goal forfuture endeavors.
