spanish club Students lnvade Spain Do you know what it's like to have blisters on your hands, tired aching muscles, from raking, baking many loaves of burned bread, and twisting your rela- tives and friends arms to buy raffle tickets? The Span- ish Club found these projects challenging as they worked toward their goal, an eight day trip to Spain. All of their hard work and planning paid off and a dream materialized as they boarded Saturn Airlines in New York City on the eve of April 13th. Some eight hours later, they were happy to plant their feet on the solid ground of Malaga, Spain. As tired as they were upon arrival, it took only a few hours sleep to be revived and ready to explore the country. The country seemed like a paradise to everyone. Lush green hills and fields, topped with blue sky and sunshine. Most of the Spanish people who were encountered were exceptionally friendly and helpful, but the young men tried to be a little too helpful at times. The food was another story. It was good, but very dif- ferent. Such foods as goats meat, turtle, snails, squibb, and other such goodies were eaten, not real- izing what they were eating until it was too late. A main source of nourishment was the hard bread, of which 8 or 10 pieces was sometimes consumed at one sitting. The beautiful arts and crafts of Spain captured the attention and pocketbook of everyone. Returning home asleep on their feet suitcases ten pounds heavier and spending money exhausted they relived memories will be with them for a lifetime. The Spanish Club wishes to express deep appreciation to Mr. and Mrs. Thurman and all of the parents who made this trip possible.
