Administrators Solve Space Problem With 45-15 The 1972-73 school year has been spent in study and planning for year-round school. Mr. Hal Helmer and Dr. Richard Hendra have put forth every effort to organize this revolutionary idea in education. Cooperating with Mr. Dave Collins, coordinator of the project, these administrators of Western School District have put in a tremendous amount of time and hard work in order to accomplish this difficult task. Next year they hope to see their plans made into reality. Frequently the school board was called on to solve many prob- lems, anything from the current space problem to irrate mothers. Although much of their time was taken up with the 45-15 project, a watchful eye was always trained on the students, keeping track of possible problems and needs. lf difficulties arose, a helping hand was offered in an attempt to solve the problems. Harmony and co- operation were the main goals of our administration. W-w d :mmm-ws. . . 1. Mr. Helmer discusses a plan of attack with school board members. 2. Board of Education president, Mr. Morris Collier, calls the meeting to order. 3, Mr. Dave Collins, co-ordinator of the 45-15 plan, strolls merrily through the halls ot Wes- tern. 4. Administrators Bring New Policies The 1972-73 school year brought changes in the supervisory staff of the high school complex. Mr. Ronald Nagy resigned leaving Mr. Kenneth Dun- nuck in his place. Mr. Dunnuck had been a principal in Cassopolis, Michigan before coming to Western High. Mr. David Collins, assistant principal at Western for three years, retired to accept a full-time position as 45-15 co-ordinator. In his place is Mr. Bryce Fauble who had been an Athletic Director and assistant principal of Chelsea Public Schools. During the course of the year, two secretaries and a clerk gave invaluable service to the administration, faculty, and students. Mrs. Pohl, secretary for Mr. Dunnuck, processed report cards and student schedules through an l.B.M. computer. She was also in charge of student records and student activity accounts. Assuming the role of clerk, Mrs. Jean Harbottle handled the attendance records, monitored the halls and helped with other office duties when needed. Mrs. Atkins controlled the secretarial work in the north building. She worked under Mr. Fauble.
