However, if one were To ask a band member, They would find ouT ThaT They are all Things ThaT The band sTrives To perfecf in Their music. The fine groups are under The direcTion of a new man, lVlr. Swanson fSwannyJ. He hopes To conTinue The higwh level of musical show- mans ip ThaT WesTern has shown ThroughouT iTs years. There are only a few perform- ances during The year: ChrisT- mas, divisional and regional conTesTs, and The Spring con- cerTs. BuT all The Time is needed To prepare and perfecT The diffi- culT music aT hand. Mr. Swan- son's plans have expanded The music deparTmenT from one To Three groups, which gives sTu- denTs an area To choose To per- fecT Their TalenT in. The newly formed groups are: Jazz Band and Brass Choir, which performs wiTh The choir. Keeping ci constant beat is drum- mers, Adam Vdnce's and Joel Ennipers job. 4. Many pop tests are given and Carol Deitrick is the lucky one chosen this time. 5. The Christmas con- cert features many students, two of which were Steve Schank and Glenn Spigener. 6. Combo: G. Pribble, K. Spencer, C, Cordner, M. Lewis, D. Ragoski, P. Casella. K. Clark, H. lvlaunu, D. Baty, J. Bearce, P. Johnson, J. Ballen, S. Schank, A. Levin, J. Krantz, K. Thrower, B. Wilcox. 7. Concert Band. 8. Trombonist, Pam Johnson and trumpeter, John Bedrce, do their stuff inthe X-mos performance. 9, This soloist, Jay Ballan received a standing ova- tion. 10.
