1 Executive Board Getting Things organized The Exeuctive Board worked hard to pro- mote spirit at Westem. The Executive Board, with help of student council, organized and planned Homecoming and the blood drive. he Executive Board authorizes student and club activities. The activities of the year that are approved by the Executive Board make the calendar of events for the school year. Four members, Anthony Arrington, Leslie Guilland, Tyrone Smith, and Karen Wright, participated in an informational convention for the student council officers of Nevada High Schools. The convention took place in Elko, Nevada. The people who attended learned leadership qualities, how to pro- mote spirit, how to conduct pep rallies, and participated in state officer elections. 1. Being sociable and accepting responsibilities are major duties of the student body president, Anthony Arrington. 2. Achievements Recognized This year two groups of students were recognized for their outstanding achievements. Westem was fortunate enough to have seven National Merit Semi- Finalists. All the Semi- Finalists had to score ex- tremely well on the PSAT achievement test. Their scores represented Westem on a national basis. The other students who were recognized were chosen the outstanding leaders of Western and attended Boys and Girls state up in Reno, which con- sisted of seminars and speakers dealing with poli- tics, law, and election pro- cedures. 1. The Boys State representatives are: Cyle Iverson, John Krantz, lnot pictured are John Boyle and Anthony Arringtonj. The girls State representatives are: Melissa Jack- son, Kristi Richardson, and Marci Rubin. 2.
