IRLS' CROSS COUNTRY C.C. is non-stop With the help of Mrs. Tegano, the girls' cross country team was locally undefeated. They placed second in zone and fourth in state. The star runners were Jenny Nelson, senior and Pam Banta, sophomore. All of the girls on the team were outstanding. The girls ran everyday except Sundays. Most of the girls run all year long and stay in shape forthe upcoming seasons. Each day after school the girls did wam'1-up exercises and then ran for two hours. They ran intervals onthe sports fields and track and onthe streets over a distance of eight to ten miles. Mrs. Tegano rode her bicycle along side the girls as they ran. Mrs. Tegano has been coaching this sport for the last four years. When she came to Westem. there was only a boys' cross country team and a few girls were involved with that. When asked what she liked most about teaching. she replied, l enjoy watching the girls get involved with this sport and improving as the season goes on. l enjoy the meets because that's what the girls work for. 1.
