Walt Jacobson xt as chosen as the outstanding art educator for the state of Nevada. llc had taught lor ll years with lo of them at Western lligh. He ls the department coordinator for Practical and Creative Arts Department. He started the ceramics department at UNLV, and has taught Art Methods and Materials there, lie is also the past predisent of the Clarke County Art Educators association and an active member ofthe slate and national art associations. Amber Cornelius who graduated from Western in l970 was recently honored as thc outstanding vocational educator ol' the year for Nevada. lfondly' known as Miss she graduated from LQNR with a degree in vocational agriculture and is the first woman in the state to get ajob in this field. Although she has only taught here lor three years she has brought many' changes to Western. These Changes include starting the plant propagation class as well as being advisor to the Garden Club and Tall Flags. She also runs the Tule Springs Garden and vtord with the CETA program teaching landscaping and welding, As ifshe isn't busy' enougl she is also active in the National Garden Club society. ln her spare time she taps dances. Opposite page. Top lel't, Miss Cornelius's fame becomes known to thc entire school. Mr. Jacobson concentrates on his drawing. This year he designed the cover. cndsheets. and division pages for the yearbook. Students and their plants benefit from Miss Cs help. Bottom.
