After many hours of thought the adminsitration finally arrived at the schedule which is shown on the Opposite Page. The basic idea was to incorporate a semester testing schedule with registration. One of the unique features was the special homeroom during which a teacher helped those students who were in his part of the alphabetical breakdown to plan their schedule. Since the faculty members could not be at registration, other than during their planning period, the depart- ment coordinators and selected student aides had to do the registering. All of this took a great deal of careful planning and coordinating. Vice-principal, Don Burger began by educating the faculty to this system with a lengthly series of departmental meetings, He followed this with many planning sessions and a series of lists calculated to drive everyone mad. When the week of registration finally arrived, things went very smoothly. Students had more help in planning than they had ever had beforeg they had more time to register and to work out scheduling problems, and teachers had the time to give semester tests which in actuality measured the growth which had occured during the semester. Opposite Page, Bottom, Before approving Teresa Jackson's schedule, Mr. Knauss checks it over to see that it meets her requirements. This page, Top, Students exchange ideas with the others in their homeroom about various classes. Mr. Sieler and Mrs. Wollin check students identification before admitting them to registration, Connie Brown utilizes all of the materials in her registration packet to plan her second semester schedule, 1 1 33 sw . Opposite Page, Top, Everyone seems to be talking more about classes rather than signing up for them. Mr. Burger explains the procedures at registration. Middle, Keith is bewildered at the teacher's reply to his question about a class. Supervisor, Mr. Byrnes, watches over Social Studies student aides to make sure things are going smoothly. Boltom, Waiting in line to register can be a pain. Counselors were able to check out the schedules of their seniors as they finished second semester registration. l Y '
