Students express communit pride giving blood Western High is the first school in Nevada to have a Blood Drive. Opposite Page, Top, JoAnn Culverhouse waits patiently to make sure that she is physically acceptable to give blood. Bottom, Scott Kelven looks around in amazement at the loss of his blood. Mr. Rosch is very pleased at being the only administrator who was able to qualify to give blood. This Page, Top, Sherri Bentley closes her eyes to keep from seeing what is about to happen. Middle, Mr. Miller shows that he was willing to give blood, but was not considered safe. Patsy Reese waits patiently for the actual giving of her blood. Bottom, Mr. Watkins is one ofthe many teachers who also partici- pated in the giving of their blood. Linda Steckel grins anxiously not knowing what side effects will happen to her. 295

fe 1 .1 CU' There is always Something better to do Despite the day's dreary schedule, everyone can nearly always find some- thing more entertaining. Opposite Page, Every now and then something interesting walks hy, to catch the eye. This Page, Top, Sometimes laying around and taking it easy is a better way, Center, What could be better than being with your favorite person. Reading is a favorite pastime. Who knows. if you talk enough she might start to notice you. When class gets to be too much, there's just one escape-sleep. Daydreaming is sometimes more interesting than what's going on around you.
