Traditions past and scenes forgotten at Western This page is dedicated to some traditions and scenes not associated with Western any longer. Throughout the years many traditions have faded away with little notice and some have become issues between the administration and students. THIS PA GE RIGHT, An empty Marquee now takes the place of a once effective one, because Linnea is too lazy to get a truck. BOT- TOM, Not many people have witnessed the fountain running since clogged drains and a broken pump stopped its operation in 1968. OPPOSITE PA GE TOP LEFT, The expansion of Western has taken over the once sacred SENIOR lawn. The lucky Sophomores and Juniors missed the ex- perience of trudging out to the drafty temporaries: They now enjoy the luxuries of the new building. Stolen lumber and other incriminating evidence was once part of the fun of preparing the bonfire. BOTTOM, Due to an in- creasing awareness ol ecology the great Homecoming tradition, of bonfires, which united all classes is now but a memory. TOP RIGHT, After years of dreaming up a saying for a parking lot space, this year's Seniors were dis- appointed when an administration rule deprived them of the privilege. The pride of a Sophomore is no longer seen at Western because Beanie Week has been taken away. New lettermen will appreciate the no initiation rule, it was canceled because it degraded human dignity. Riotous laughter from Seniors is no longer heard at Western during beanie week because of over eager Juniors and some irresponsible Seniors. 5' V '- g P V . .g . .
