Marcia Auer r . rv. .:f,, v.v:., I A ' ' Advisor: Jack Schwartz DRUM MAJOR: Rick Battles The Western High School band, under the direction of Jack Schwartz, played its way through a most re- warding year. They were chosen out of many bands to play in the Long Beach and Anaheim Concerts. The Concert Band held the annual Winter Concert which turned out to be an outstanding performance. The Pep Band with the War Chants spurred enthusi- asm and spirit throughout the basketball season. The Marching Band spent long hours practicing the halftime and parade routines. These drills were wel- comed with a generous reception. The Dance Band played at dances and helped to introduce young musicians to dance music and the Dixieland Band brought enjoyment to the Senior Assembly with their renditions of dixieland. 193
