FOREIGN STUDENTS AT WESTERN In June I left Germany and went by boat to Canada. I enioyed the lovely summer with my relatives at a beautiful lake. I like it very much in Las Vegas. The main reason I came to this country was to learn English, anal I think my English has improved quite a bit. I already know that I will miss the American school life and its social activities, es- pecially the football games. I like it very much here and I think I will return sometime. I would like to thank you for taking care of me and for giving me a chance to learn the English language. In Western High School my teachers and the students are very helpful, patient, and nice to me. This way it is easy to learn the new way of life. I immigrated to America with my motherto my sister's. Iwas afraid to be a stranger, but I feel at home here. If you know about Communism, you can understand how much I appreciate being here in America, and you can feel what the word really means -freedom. I am happy and very grateful. Thank you, all of you again. On April 4th I arrived in the U.S.A. and came to Las Vegas and Western. All without a word of English: But all of you who know me, helped me very much and I want to thank you. I shall never forget how so many stu- dents brought dictionaries to schoal with them in order to un- derstand me better. Many of my German friends said I would find it very difficult here at first, but that was not true. You were so kind and thoughtful that I hardly had time to get homesick. When I must once again return home, I can only say that West- ern shall remain the best school in it's friendship to other nations. Mmm fi -Wim ofljdluawuaa Germany Hungary Germany R
