J Y Cheerleaders The five junior Varsity Cheerleaders represented the lower classmen. These spirited girls supported the JV football and basketball teams. They have spon- sored dances and a variety show. Su- zanne McDonald with her cheerful smile and her bubbling personality, guided Jacque, Pattie, Jackie, and Lynn to per- fection and fine representation for West- ern High School. SMILE PRETTY-Reflective cheerleaders include from left Laura Holmes Ardis Koerwitz Loretta Chesson and Mauna Sue Hawkes. Mascots From left to right, Georganne Petree, Jamie Sue Huffman, and Iackie Dill, performed this past year with enthusiasm and abili- ty. Garbed in headresses and waving tomahavvks, the mascots went on the warpath against each of Western's opponents. Cartwheels and totem poles were two of their many routines. At the close of each season, the mascots found themselves more highly perfected and organized in representing Western High School proudly among schools.

Slave Sale f ,7 4 X Maw' i, A10 9,1 'Ju The rattling of chains, the clinking of money and the cry of the auctioneer were sounds that could be heard at NVestern's first slave sale. This initial sale was sponsored by the Varsity Cheer- leaders who used the funds in purchasing outfits and transpor- tation costs to out of town games.
