They have sponsored school dances, pep assem- blies, and an annual slave sale in order to arouse spirit and loyalty among the students . . . . Mauna Sue, Ardis, Laura, Loretta and Karen practiced long hours in order to repre- sent Western High School and to measure up to their ex- pectations. Sun Youth Forum Finalists Doug Williams Shirley Johnson Stan Stahl Mu Gerald Biby The 10 representative stu- dents, encouraged and guided by the capable hands of Mr. Ray Martinez, succeeded in boosting the spirit of the stu- dents to inconceivable heights. Roger Wyma, as President, Pat Lancaster, as Vice-President, along with Austa Potter, Secretary, and Shirley johnson, Treasurer, led these students in forming everlasting traditions and en- couraging never - e n d i n g school spirit. Select members of Western High School were given the privilege of attending the sixth annual Sun Youth For um. Students, after se riously and earnestly studying various politi cal, national, and world problems, represented our student body in the all -school competition Gerald Biby, Doug Wil liams, Shirley johnson and Stan Stahl, after set ting a high precedent for other students to follow became Western High School's first Sun Youth Forum finalists.

SMILE PRETTY-Reflective cheerleaders include from left Laura Holmes Ardis Koerwitz Loretta Chesson and Mauna Sue Hawkes. Mascots From left to right, Georganne Petree, Jamie Sue Huffman, and Iackie Dill, performed this past year with enthusiasm and abili- ty. Garbed in headresses and waving tomahavvks, the mascots went on the warpath against each of Western's opponents. Cartwheels and totem poles were two of their many routines. At the close of each season, the mascots found themselves more highly perfected and organized in representing Western High School proudly among schools.
