Golf After the bowling season was Well un- derway, the first Clark County High School Golf League was formed with Western again getting in on the ground floor with a promising varsity team. Although it was too early to pre- dict how Warrior linksmen would fare, they easily disposed of Gorman in their first scratch match, 7-0, and Las Vegas, 6-1, in the second contest. Our three squads rolled a 12-week schedule which was not completed by deadline time. With complete squads back next year, the VVarriors were truly aiming for the future in this sport. Tennis Western Higlfs infant tennis team, under the guidance of coach Paul Smith, made an impressive 7-0 bow over Las Vegas in the first Clark County High School Tennis League match played by Warrior netmen and followed with a 6-O Qwith one drawj against Nevada Southern University to appear to be well on the way toward a successful season. Five teams, including Western, formed the new league which also included squads from Las Ve- gas, Rancho, Basic and Nevada Southern University. Schools were due to play a double round robin schedule ending up on May 15 with a tournament, tentatively scheduled for Western, slated to wind up the season in late May .... VVith seasoned talent available it appeared the Warriors were aiming for big future things.
