f2esf2zQfzf 2' QL.- exmye I am happy to have the privilege of expressing my appreciation and gratification to the high school students for the splendid projects they have put over from year to year. One of the best projects is that of - the high school annual. It involves a great deal of work, but I am sure that those who put their time on this annual are repaid in many ways. There is the satisfaction of the college and high school faculty. Even better are the words of praise given by your fellow students. while appreciation and praise are very fine, personally, I believe that even greater benefit is that of the personal growth em- bodied in turning out a fine piece of work. I wish to congratulate the staff for their efforts and we know that the annual will be a source of happiness in bringing back memories of all high school students to those who are fortunate in securing an annual I wish to express my appreciation for the fine accomplishment and endeavor on your part. Cordially yours, 0 ' 'K 'T' 1. W sgs, xg. -lriv ' -' ' 'if'-C 5- - H. W. James, President

Dedication We, the annual staff, dedicate this annual to the sons, fathers, and loved ones who gave so unselfishly to the cause of peace in Korea. May their courage be inspiration to all-that we might live in a free world.

,uni , W W 11, Tuul giuluuusn. .W..,,. Y V V moz aff QWEXKJQZ Recently I saw a picture of a man and two teen age girls, one on each side of him, on the cover of a current magazine. The caption for the picture said, WThey are as proud of him as he is of them.W The man in the picture was Eddie Sawyer, manager of the National League Champion Philliesg the girls were his young daughters. I would like to word paint another picture for you with Western High School in the background and all of the students in the foreground. The caption could again read, Uwe are as proud of you as you are of us.W It is the obligation of each student to so con- duct himself or herself at all times that western High will be proud of each and every student. It is the duty of Western High to be such a good school that each student will be proud of it. May both fulfill its obligations and duties. Kenneth E. Kostenbader
