Western's Home Ec Department helps to build better home makers. The girls in seventh grade are taught proper cook- ing and sewing techniques, the keys to proper dressing, home nursing, and child development. A new class has also been added for those not already en- rolled in Home Ec. It is the home man- agement course. Also new is the sum- mer foods course in connection with business in Kokomo. The girls have a short course in foods and then proceed to workwith foods in local hospitals and restaurants . Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble?

Typing in summer School gives confidence and efficiency in typing. 4 Na ist' H 51 BUSINESS Business is a popular and very important part of the curriculum at Western High. This year new cal- culating machines were added to our equipment and were welcomed by many bookkeeping students . These machines are more modern and make adding those columns a breeze. Along with the calculating machines, new tables were placed in the bookkeeping room. These tables provide students with lots of elbow room and plenty of working space. Equipment isn't the only thing new in the business department. A new course, Business Law and Sales- manship, is being offered. By offering a wide range of business courses, we hope to prepare the busi- ness studentsfor their role as future tycoons of Amer- ica.
