They are Mr. Don Hanna, principal of Western High School and Mr. Dale Baltus, assistant prin- cipal. When you make out your schedules, do you think of who is responsible for pro- viding agood academic pro- gram for you to choose from ? This is part of Mr. Hanna's job. He supervises the choice of subjects offered so that some will appeal to our interests and also be bene- ficial to us after graduation. Mr. Baltus supervises the athletics and activities of Western. He schedules dif- ferent events so that they will not conflict with one another. Would you want to do these jobs? What do you suppose these two are up to? Dale F. Did you ever stop to think about who hires the teachers or makes out the school's policies? These jobs and others are done by the School Board and Mr. Richard R. Rea, the School Superintendent. At a typical Board meeting these men cover much busi- ness. There are reports on the lunch program, the main- tenance of the building and grounds, and the elementary and high school programs. At the present they are discussing the money situation and the building problems of the new high school. Do you think you could run our school as Well as these men have?

Springer M The Guidance Program this year was well handled by three very capable counselors. Mr. Gene Pear son, Guidance Director, supervised the entire program. He also administered such tests as the National Merit Qualifying Test, SAT, and the PSAT to stu- dents Wishing to further their education after High School. Mrs. Mary Springer, Dean of Girls, has the responsibility of all the girls and the seventh graders. Her knowledge and understanding of students' problems has eased many minds. Mr. Norman Lewellyn has done an excellent job in his first year as Dean of Boys. The guidance and discipline of all boys is just one of his many duties. Norman H.
