The Western eighth-grade baseball team, under the coaching of Fred Oyler, had a three and-three record for the year. The team placed second in their County Conference There were three boys who distinguished themselves as batters with averages over .400 They were Eddie Bishop, Lowell Roode, and Darrell Helton. .Tack Helton and Terry White handled the pitching with Darrell Helton and Dennis Patrick serving as backstops. The scores were as follows: Western Western Western Western Western Western ln 4 .s V1 if 2 Howard 8 Sharpsville 8 Ervin 0 Howard 18 Sharpsville 5 Ervin 8 .,,f I I These two boys, John Opincar and Allen Shepherd, have had a full season handl- ing the managers' job in all the sports at Western. To be first one to all the activities that they are responsible for and the last ones to leave is tough, but very rewarding. These boys receive major awards for taking care of the equipment at all ball games and in the dressing rooms. To these buckaroos our thanks.
