The Dramatics Club is one of the younger organizations of Western High School. The club is made up of students interested in public speaking. At each meeting students acquire experience by a twenty-minute program. These pro- grams include skits. readings, short plays, and pantomirnes. The Dramatics Club has sent several groups to provide entertainment at banquets and other social affairs in the community. The Club presented a special program for the public on February 18. The Club this year was under the direction of JV. G. O'Neal, presidentg Judy Catron, vice -presidentg Linda Ward, secretary-treasurerg and Mrs. Stewart, sponsor. DR MATICS LUB The Student Council serves as the governing body of Western High School A few of their numerous duties include supervising the election of school yell leaders, sponsoring the annual Get-Acquainted Party, and participating in district school exchange programs. Under the supervision of Mr. Parks. the following officers directed the activities of the Student Council this year: President, Janice Benham: Vice President. RCJBED CHOIR The Robed Choir,under the direction of Mr. Bunish, gave several perform- ances throughout the year. They presented programs in several churches in the community and, at various times, for the student body at Western. At Christmas time, the choir went caroling at the St. Joseph Memorial Hos- pital, and, combining with other musical organizations at school, they presented a Christmas program for the entire community. The officers of Robed Choir were as follows: President---Janice Benham Vice-President---Ronnie Colby Secretary---Sandy Colyar The members of Choir realized through singing together how ver'y important working well with others is. They learned a valuable lesson and had fun doing it. The staff of the school newspaper, the Panther's Cry, is made up of thejour- nalism class. Providing coverage of all phases of school activities, the newspaper is dispatched monthly to community subscribers, alumni, and county schools. This year a special student news bureau, consisting of Jeff Padfield, Judy Millage, and Jay Farwick, was initiated. This group provides school news to the community newspapers. In addition to these journalistic responsibilities,the staff assists in assim- ilating the Echo. Mr. Kirkpatrick is the Panther's Cry sponsor. PA THER' CRY .. . -i , ....f...5.s5, 4. q .1F5Ffzi' 1 BAND The Western High School Band, under the direction of Mr. Bunish, very ably represented Western at several community af- fairs this year. On November 29,the band marched in the Christ- mas parade at Kokomo. On April 18, they enter ed a contest at Eastern, and also served as hosts to Northwestern and Eastern for the annual spring festival of the chorus and band combined. The band marched at the basketball home games with Wind- fall, Eastern, Sweetzer, and Southwestern.
