1 We, the seniors of 1959, would like to express our deepest thanks to Western for making our years in high school very happy and unforgettable. We are the largest senior class in the history of W. H. S. ever to prospect for the Gold in them there halls andwe are veryfortunate to have as our foremen, Mrs.Ethelyn Stewart and Mr.Larry Lowe. They have helped us very much in striving for high- er goals. Our class colors are turquoise and white, and our class flower, the carnation. We chose as our motto: The future belongs to those who prepare for it. The senior class play, Curtain Going Up, a three-act comedy, was directed by our sponsors and it marked one of the high points of our senior year. For our class party we went to Chicago to see the Museum of Science and Industry, the Museum of Natu- ral Science and History, and the Aquarium. While we were there we lunched in Chinatown, and although our bus broke down, we still had a wonderful time, of course, when it comes to class trips, we will never forget the fun we had on our bus trip to these in- teresting places in Chicago. For graduation the girls wore starlight white robes while the boys were dressed in monterey blue. The tassels were black and white. As we all stood at trail's end, receiving our diplo m as , our hearts skipped a beat, for we know we would always remem- ber those wonderful years at Western High.
