You have shown your ability to meet a new challenge and have helped to create a new interest in Western's athletic field. We realize you were working under a handicap without a football field on which to playg also this year you were playing a new sport in which none of you had participated before. Through the efforts of your very efficient coach, Mr. Murphy, you were able to go out and meet your opponents with plenty of spirit and enthusiasm. You were unable to gain a victory this yearg but with your steady improvement and determination to win, you have greatly impressed the Western student body. We are all behind you and know that next year you will make football one of Western's most exciting and in- teresting sports. l PRES! Business Manager . Class Editor .... Club Editor .... Thinking back to our senior play on November 21, entitled We Shook The Family Tree , we gave the first matinee performance ever given at Westem and with our excellent director, Mrs. Evans, our play was a big success at both performances. After the play, we started in to reach our SIOOO budget goal by popping com and selling cokes at each home basketball game. In December, the seniors were in charge of the Christmas program which we presented to the students and faculty. ' We will remember our Junior and Senior Prom last year, given by our class presenting our own enter- tainment taken from the play Our Town . May was a special month for us, since we were busy with all the excitement of baccalaureate and com- mencement May I2 and 13. Then May I9 we were off for the trip every senior looks forward to, Washington D.C. and New'York. Last but not least the class would like to say Thank-you to Mrs. Carr and Mr. Fiedler for helping us through our senior year so successfully. ANNA BROWN Hi Yawl G. A. In January we took over the concession stand and sold Western Panther license plates to earn money for our class treasury. Also, during January we had a dancing party in the school cafeteria. February II, we visited the Indiana State Legislature in Indianapolis. On Valentine's day we gave Valentine Fantasy for the entire school. Our play was entitled Off the Track , produced March 28 and 29 and directed by Mrs. Evans. In May we gave the traditional Junior-Senior Prom. The club has grown from fifty to a regular attendance of two hundred students. A new project has been the adoption for one year of an orphan boy or girl through the Foster Parents Plan. Another project has been Bible Quizzes. There are five quizzers and two alternates who go to different schools and they play against each other in their knowledge of the Bible. Four Bible Club members, Helen Johnson, Jean Conwell, Janice Benham, and Jeanne Kenworthy took screen tests in connection with the casting of a Youth for Christ movie.
