Amici Staff The world of too-soon-to-be-believed deadlines, lost master layout sheets, and last-minute changes . . . This picture doesn't have enough contrast-we will use no pictures that are less than perfect. These became facts of life this year to the seven- teen members of the Amici staff, only three of whom had had previous experience in publishing an annual. The year began in August with solicitation for adver- tisements and suggestions for the book's theme. Then, as school began, the tasks of drawing layouts, arranging for pictures, and writing copy took over. The room echoed with the almost daily cries of Did any pictures come in today? , When's lVlr. Overby coming? , and l've got to crop these pictures to- day! And then one day, despite the problems with pictures and ideas that never quite made it and everything else, it was the last deadline and every- thing was finished. The preparation of next year's Amici was begun. And then that day in lVlay that made it all worthwhile-the yearbooks arrived, were presented, and were given out at the yearbook signing party.
