Five Were 1970 Marshals Chief Marshal: Maxine Ward Jim Brannon Londay Lawson Janice Opalinski Elizabeth Bezera Maxine Ward There's a beat in the music - vvalk with it! . . . Keep that line even. .. Alright, graduation practice tomorrovv morning in the auditorium during first period . . . The five juniors academically ranked at the top of their class were chosen as 1971 marshals. They partie cipated in the graduation ceremonies of the class of 1970. The marshals were Maxine Ward, chief marshalg Elizabeth Bezera, Janice Opalinski, Londay Lawson, and Jim Brannon.

DAR This year the Daughters of the American Revolu- tion Award was presented to Margaret Lancaster. The award is given to a member of the senior class who possesses the traits necessary for the formation of an outstanding citizen. Margaret has exhibited these traits of dependability, leadership, service, good men- tal character, and desire for the betterment of all. She was active in school government and in extracurri- cular activities, and certainly deserves this recogni- tion. Governor's School Trying to sleep for three nights with his brain wired for sound . . . Presenting ten concerts within two months. . . Brad Gibbs was Western Guilford's representative among the 400 North Carolina stu- dents selected to participate in Governor's School at Salem College last summer. His field of concentration was choral music, but he also attended classes and participated in research in other fields, including phil- osophy, psychology, arts and sciences - and dream research. Governor's School provides an excellent op- portunity for outstanding rising high school juniors and seniors to receive advanced instruction to several fields each year. Also nominated were Elizabeth Bezera, Tim But- ler, Michelle Darnley, Barbara Horney, and Steve Bell. Margaret Lancaster Brad Gibbs
