CLASS HISTORY Unconventional-from the beginning-we were the largest class and the first to have more men than women-unbridled Freshmen, we swarmed into the classrooms-the halls- the social room-three days orientation-picnic at Putnam Park-getting acquainted-the Juniors received us at the Dorm-initiation and the revolt of the men-Dr. Todd, our sponsor -class elections and Tom Costello president- That red-head from Norwalk -the first of our famous carnivals-Marita Murphy, surprise package-Mrs. Todd, Queen-our dance for our big brothers and sisters-our president Dr. Jenkins passed on-Miss Haas inauger- ated-choral speaking-Miss Harrison and the three Cam-u-el-s-Fall-Winter-Spring- the pattern had been set-and the first of four was over. September again-we re-entered a little more calmly-a great deal wiser-the tables were turned and we initiated the Freshmen-Red McColgan was our new president-Mrs. de Villafranca, our new sponsor-we grew as the College grew-the quonset hut opened -ping-pong balls-the coke machine-the iuke box-we started selling College seals- our first formal dance, The Snowball at the Legion-Ronnie Rommel's Band-publicity and Winter Wonderland Music-Barbara Miller chosen Snow Queen-it was a huge suc- cess-Red left us to become a Junior-Bud Sisterhenm was our new president-the card party to raise money for the War Baby Fund-Erutma was formed-Eastern States-The Hotel Commadore-Interim was iniected into the curriculum-we had our second annual carnival-Do-day was innovated-campaigning for deans-Tom Costello and his girls- Honest John Beck and his fire engine-Byrle Breny-Alex Leieune-Vinnie Stranieri-we decorated the stage for graduation-a good year-it passed quickly-The Hitching Post Banquet-we bid a sad farewell to our two year students. Less in quantity more in quality we began our Junior year-our first training period -lesson plans-crit books-the trip to Boston-rain-Miss Harrison and Mrs. Thompson- the Boston Blackies-four roses-back to classes-curricular materials-theory, theory, theory-observations-Lee and Lee-Salt, Fox and Others-experience charts-Miss Sher- wood-Principles of Teaching-registers-and we were introduced to Max Oliver-Ward Hager-Edna Morse-we dramatized -The Night of January 'I6th -a smash hit-Mr. Aitchison directed-Lolly became The Sinner -we put on our third Successful carnival -after councils spaghetti dinner-we learned to .work with the Science Department-the trip to Stamford-visited schools-lunch at the Snake Pit- The Bon Voyage, our dance for the Seniors-at the American Legion-Stew Griffen's orchestra-a highlight of the year -oulltraining again-more lesson plans-the picnic at Squantz Pond-and the hike in the woo s. 38
