The founders established a fra- ternity of men chosen not for their wealth, rank, nor honor, but for their personal worth and charac- ter. TKE emphasizes the importance of careful bal- ancing of social activities, scholastic work, and participation in the extra curricular program of the college. The fraternity has prided itself on the interest its members have shown in sports, student government, publications, and above all scholar- ship.

DELTA OMICRON CHAPTER Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity was founded December 10, 1 899, as a mutual and cooperative movement of a body of regular students of the college of the City of New York, Co- lumbia University, and New York University. From these early beginnings Delta Sigma Phi has grown in strength to a membership of twenty-four thousand Brothers. When Gamma Tau Fraternity was founded here on the campus of Western Carolina College, they hoped to affiliate nationally with Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. Under the able leadership of Mr Frank J. S.
