WESTERN BIBLE COLLEGE CCJIVIES TO A CRGSSROAD Western Bible Institute was founded by Mr. Carl C. Harwood, Sr., who went to be with the Lord in 1957. Mr. Harwood was a very gifted evangelist who used a variety of means to encourage unsaved people to come to his meetings. Some of the means he used were magic object lessons, Victor Thermon tan instru- ment played without touchingl, fluorescent rocks, and a trained Arabian horse. A group of young men asked Mr. Harwood to share some of his methods. He responded with a two-week seminar of instruction and evening evangelistic ser- vices in which they used these methods. As the weeks progressed, Mr. Harwood realized that the young men did not have a thorough knowledge of the Bible. The methods could never produce results unless these young men were well grounded in the Word of Cod. As a result, Mr. Harwood began to plan for a Bible institute in which the study of the Bible would be predominant. 'i i' The fifty acres where Western Bible College is located now was given by Clarence and Stanley Harwood. In 1961 Western Bible Institute moved to the present location with Carl C. Harwood, lr. as the president. Dr. Stanley Toussaint was the president in 1967, and Mr. Adrian House assumed the leadership in 1971. From 1977 to 1983 Dr. William Boyd was president.
