Our mighty Father guides and uses His children as He knows to be best for His glory and our growth. Many times He leads His own to sojourn in numerous places as they serve Him. We are delighted that He has chosen differently with Helen and Elsie Fick. For over thirty years they have labored as His instruments in the ministry of Western Bible College. Both ladies worked with Carl Harwood, Sr. by helping with the office work involved in the Christian Serviceman's Center in Denver. Elsie travelled as pianist with Mr. Harwood on his evangelistic trips. When Mr. Harwood founded Western Bible Institute in order to pass on some of his evangelistic methods, Miss Helen was the secretary and bookkeeper, and Miss Elsie helped in the office as well as teaching two classes, English and Teaching Children. These dedicated ladies have seen Western Bible Institute change to Western Bible College, and have witnessed much growth in the curriculum and the physical plant of the school. As the school has expanded, the limits of their duties have narrowed, and their serving of the school has continued constant. Miss Helen fills the position of cashier, processing gifts and salaries. Miss Elsie teaches English and acts as registrar, handling all records after a student is accepted to Western Bible College. For their faithfulness and joyful service we thank them, and dedicate this yearbook to them. May God make us all to be as faithful and earnest as they! W W my m y Y . : . . Old friendships were renewed and the new ones sparked during the times of refreshment. The entertainment provided a relaxing atmosphere through skits, testimonies, and special music. Marc Norton and Mark Tracy, Beth Garner and April O'Keefe, Mike Arnott and Pat Hayes were among the songsters. The largest group singing was Chi dorm, with their rendition of Soaking Up the Scripture. Outdoor recreation drew many away from their studies for the afternoon. Special challenge from the Word of God came from our speaker S. Lewis Iohnson. Retreat is an opportunity none should miss. -'--- --- -1---54-rwr --nm -- r L' '- 135923 Q3f t?fff'fti:i,E-Qlfl-'ff'iii-'liLlp iz...-12-1. A ifll ' ' i?????f!?Z4'?755i?35i?57f???. , . Many students, faculty members, and mission representatives worked together to make a week of challenges, of memories for the student body. Don McCurray and William D. Lavv- rence spoke with hearts on flame for Christ and the world He died to save. The sum is in our theme song: I want to bear the Word of Iesus' love, let others see His Spirit within QU aaceaa deemde oo o me. What e'er the need might be, where e'er the task might lead, I'll let His will govern my way. This then's my challenge for the time that's ahead: Live out the depths of His love. The early birds found a variety of afternoon fun games down on the soccer field. Food is the main attraction, though, and the Freshman furnished famished folk with chipped beef sandwiches, corn, pinto beans, and apple pie ala mode. A Walt Disney movie topped off the evening, with entertainment during intermissions provided by Tim Garrett and crew and Lori Slee and Barb Bohlender. The Marriott Inn provided a charm- ing setting for the Spring Banquet, hosted by the Iuniors in honor of the Seniors. Cool weather was a welcome change to those who had known rain or snow at previous Spring Banquets, Danny Ee performed as Master of Ceremonies, evidencing for all to relish the joke-filled commeraderie which he shared with Paul Borden. Time spent relaxing with friends and loved ones was spiced with special presentations of awards in the areas of volleyball and basketball, and of recogni- tion of special merit by the Senior class to their faculty advisor, Mr. Ionathan Smith. Hilarity reached its peak as the Iuniors speculated on the Seniors' success through an imaginary twenty year reunion entitled H2001 - A Space Odyssey . Randy White, a locally known musician, rounded out the evening with music to challenge. 14? 4? s .- 194.101 no A' 1' M t .f 72 ' ' nur W r uuna-av-nn.1.nn.u-a-1--f--v--,-- -,,..,..-. ........ ffvvf,-gl-11'-lux-su-fn an-U Y, ...- . - -,QQ -A L A. There is also a great feeling of accomplishment in having completed this yearbook. There have been many very good times connected with this yearbook and I am one who was fortunate enough to partake in those times. For that I am thankful. However, this book was put together by people. And, not unlike any other human endeavor that involves interpersonal relationships there were many conflicts. There were times, I'm sure, when every member of this staff had his doubts about the whole thing. There were certainly those times for me. But now, as I look back, I can thank the Lord for the whole experience, both good times and bad. Why? Because, through it all, others as well as myself havelgrown. It is this editers estimation, that if for no other reason, this yearbook was a success. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank those who helped in bringing this book of rememberancesu to you. Photographers: Tim Avis, Dan Fenner, Pat Friedline, Russ Granger, George McLaughlin, Marc Norton, Lori Slee, Doug Swank, Doug Wright. Layout: Denise Olson, Ruth Page. Photography Editor: Doug Wright. Associate 8z Layout Editor: Doug Swank. Editor: Sue Lynch. Special thanks to all those who helped in any way to complete this book. Thanks to Cecil Cole for being our adviser. Special thanks for the artwork by Ioyce Crow. And, last but not least, thanks to the faculty and staff of the school, and to all the students for putting up with us when we were in your way. Thanks to all for being so patient in waiting for this book to arrive.
