LORD OF ALL THE HOURS O Thou who art my January, my December, And Lord of all the hours that lie between, Alpha and Omega, my First and Last, Now, as another year is brought to birth Across this aching earth, I come once more to Thee For faith to meet these darkly-dawning days. The opening scene Is dread With deepening gloom, the skies are overcast With storm-clouds born of sin, and nameless fears. Men know not where to flee Nor how to hide, Courage and hope seem fled, And sorrows multiplied Wherever my bewildered vision strays. What comfort to remember The years of Thy right hand, O Thou Most High' In Thee alone is refuge for the soul, In Thy great Name is song and strength and peace Thou art the same forever, and Thy years Shall never fail nor cease. We see in part And dimly.
