Though she now lives in God's presence she also lives in our lives through the affect she had on us. Ruth Wilson never felt physically up to par while she was going to school, but even though she had a rough cough and her diet was very restricted, yet I never once heard her complain. One evening I overheard Ruth ask one question that I've never forgotten. As the rest of us students were going through the chow line and were responding as usual with our incessant grumbling, Ruth was standing in the back of the kitchen, and with tears in her eyes she asked, How could they ever complain that they're able to eat that kind of food? I know the angels are rejoicing to have Ruth with them now, but I also know we rejoice that she was with us this last year to teach us many lessons we probably would not have learned any other way. LEFT, Prayer Band Leaders Student Mission Impact is dedicated to encouraging a missionary effort and zeal at Western Bible College. This is the commitment and challenge we must face in response to the Great Commission . In order to accomplish this over all objective S.M.I. has several programs: Summer Missionaries- Several students are selected each year to go to some mission field during their summer vacation and serve as short term, or summer missionaries with some mission board. It is their opportunity to see the mission field first-hand, gain some experience on the field and enable them to determine more clearly the will of the Lord for their lives concerning the mission field. Student Ministry Groups- Each week students meet in a number of groups to share a time of fellowship, prayer and concern for a particular ministry. Over 20 groups are available to the students. They are given a concern and awareness for each others needs and needs on the mission field as they meet in these small groups led by other students. Missions Conference . . . A vessel . . . set apart, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work. 2 Timothy 2:21 As the missionaries share with the students during Western Bible College Missions Week hearts were blessed and lives were challenged to become the person God would use for His glory. It was quite evident in the messages and in the response of the students that the Lord was touching lives. In the various seminars conducted each day students had the opportunity to hear further about specific areas of missionary inter- est. Missionary films, fellowship with the missionary speakers along with popcorn and pop was the order for each evening. While the conference is history, it is our prayer that the seed sown during the conference will bear much fruit in the years ahead. 18 ABOVE: The missionary displays and literature provided valuable information for the students. In infinite splendor, He rules over all, Yet He uses poor vessels when on Him they call. God's power is great and He keeps me alert, Honored and useful, prepared for His work. But greater than all these glories I see, He's molding this vessel. He'll use even me. RIGHT. For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain. Phillippians 1:20-21 KEN TULLOSS B B E Pastoral Minor sm Wx S 5 at TSX. E. 1 It seems like only yesterday we embarked on our lives at school with expectation, apprehension and uncertainty. Now, four years later, we are seniors and the trek begins againg we look to the future with the same sense of expectation, apprehension and uncertainty, for we have come far, and yet it seems we have so far to go. The world challenges us to come forth, we accept, not certain of all the perils that await us but confident in our armor. Our hearts have been tempered with logic and our logic tempered with compassion. We have learned that Christianity is not a set of facts, figures, and formulas different from those of the world, nor is it simply a way of life. It is a temporal cause with eternal results. There can be no higher calling for man and for us there can be no other calling. We resolve to handle with reverence and accuracy the Word of God for only through it do our words have meaning. We strive to maintain the highest personal standards and yet never view ourselves as superior to our fellow Christians. We seek to obtain all that God has for us as Christians and all that God has for us as individuals. We seek to run with endurance the race that is set before us. fHeb. 12:11. So that we may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. lRom. 12:21 For in a world gone mad nothing less will be sufficient. As we look back upon this season there are a lot of happy remembrances as well as sad. We remember the games with Rockmont and Baptist Bible. We also remember the close games with Arapahoe especially the one that went into double overtime. We are saddened by the loss of our two Senior Co-Captains Jon Schrag and Scott McKim. Their leadership, dedication and ability were greatly appreciated by those who had the privilege to play the game with them. He is alone, abandoned on earth in the midst of his infinite responsibilities, without hope, with no other aim than the one he sets for himself, with no other destiny than the one he forges for himself on this earth. Jean Paul Sartre 86 ' , . ses. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. 1 Peter 1:3 Remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. Ephesians 2:12-13 Both the annual and W.B.C. have the goal of: being always ready to give a reason for the hope that is within you QI Peter 3:15l. We have tried to show in the opening and closing sections of the annual that Christianity is the very antitheses of the philosophy of despair. This despair was produced when man determined that he could be autonomous from God. Jacques Ellul tells us the result of that decision: Autonomy is a burdensome dignity, for it means that man is left entirely alone as he confronts reality. Wretchedness, suffering, anxiety, injustice, death: they are all around him and he must face them alone. He must take a position and act, without anything to fall back on, without any source of hope. In atheistic humanism, then, man adopts a very lofty conception of his own fate, but the price for it is high: his own existential anxiety. Thus without God and the existence of the supernatural, man is reduced to a mere machine playing out its meaningless existence. But Christianity presents us with a personal God who has revealed Himself to man. This means that there is reality that we can have contact with and we are not just a product of the impersonal plus time plus chance. This is the hope the Bible presents us. The Christian hope is, however, not an empty hope. It has concrete reality behind it. That reality is that Jesus was a historic-space-time person who rose from the dead, a fact attested to by more than 500 witnesses who saw Him on different occasions. Christian, put your trust fully in the hope the Bible provides. He is the Truthg the ultimate reality so make Him the total focus of your life. Inquirer, this has been written to show what a life without God inevitably leads to. Jesus is not A real- ity, He is THE reality. Believe in Him today and you can have his hope within.
