TO ONE ANOTHER, AND THE LORD GAVE ATTENTION AND HEARD IT, AND A BOOK OF RE- MEMBRANCE WAS WRITTEN BEFORE HIM FOR THOSE WHO FEAR THE LORD AND WHO ESTEEM HIS NAME. 1973-74 is unique , . . it is now. Never again will there be assembled here the same persons, the same circumstances, the same events. Our time together deserves remembrance. The yearbook staff has set itself to the task of writing a book by which to remember the school year 73-74 at Western Bible Institute. So it is that we have chosen and approved a new name for our yearbook, ZIKKARON., Taken from Malachi 3:16, zikkaron QSI-ka-ron'j is the Hebrew word for Book of Remembrance. The book written before the Lord included specifically the conversation of those who feared Him. Our book is expanded somewhat to include the fellow- ship, i.e. , thought, speech, action, of those gathered here for a time of learn- ing of Him and service for Him. That God's attention is focused on every detail of our lives should make us careful, humble and reverent before Him. WALK WORTHY of the VOCATION wherewith you are called, with all lowliness and meekness with longsuffering, forbearing one another in loveg endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. QEph. 4:1-31 Our vocation or calling is that free invitation received from God to partake in the privileges of the Gospel of Christ and to become His sons and daughters We are told by the Apostle here how we walk worthily of our vocation. We must Walk in lowliness or in humility of mind. We are to walk in meekness which is the opposite of anger or irritability of disposition. Our walk is to be with longsuffering or that longmindedness which never permits a trial or prov- ication to get to the end of our patience. And, our walk must forbear one an- other or that delicate, faithful caring for one another. My desire for the Western Bible Institute family: students, staff, faculty and administration is that we WALK WORTHY of that calling in which we are called' nil Oo Adri L. Having spent time at four different institutions of higher education, I would have to admit that academically Western is tougher than any of the other three. As such the drop-out rate is not surprising, though nonetheless it is disturbing. I would encourage all attending W.B.I. to stick to it simply because the more one ap- propriates of what is available here, the better tool he will be for God to use. 13-4 ,W t P dwarf Ga rlfo When I came to Western I thought I knew just about everything about the Bible that could be known. QI am a pas- tor's son and a possessor of the ego that generally is associated with P.K.sj. I soon was set straightg by mid-term I had more F's than the word flesff. By the end of the first year I had man- aged to pull a D+ average, and I was given one semester to bring the grades up or get out. By God's grace I've gotten by well since. During my junior year while studying Hebrews, I real- ized that Iwas lost. During second semester fMarch 19, 19731 I received Christ as my personal Savior. This was the highlight of my years at Wes- tern. My wife and I plan to serve the Lord as missionaries to England after I graduate. We are thankful for our years at Western and for the friends God has blessed us with since We came. 7 9012 G urvillc I have found my years here at Western to be very prof- itable in many ways. One way has been the continuing pro- cess of the Lord deepening my trust in Him, especially in small areas. I feel that it's easier to trust in the Lord for the big areas rather than for the small. Discouragements are easier to turn over to Him now than two years ago. The teaching ministry of the faculty has also helped my growth. I am appreciative of their diligence and effort in investing their lives in me. I feel that these two years at Western have been a definite advantage to my better serving Jesus Christ. , , ..,, ,,, ., . ,.f. ,...,....I., ,,, , , . 4, , I xx 52iw,,V,i?, , A ,tr sl- , 5 V p . .mst ., , K ,I 5 gig- f.,,,.,arvfg f .2 Mm' . -f M- -. I am now looking forward to graduating in the spring of 1974. I give praise and thanks to God for the mercy and grace which he has so abundantly lavished these past five years. This life in Jesus Christ has only begun! For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. Psa. 94:11 ' Yr,VV I WWJW WTW-f-'w. cJ7feloc5y man Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee. Isa. 26:3. We were somewhat less than peaceful in the real- ization that five days from the opening of school we had neither job nor home. The process of relocating in Morrison from Fort Collins was interspersed with inde- cision and weeks of camp counseling. Through it we sought confirmation that Western was God's will for us. In the past two years He has demonstrated this many times over in providing every need and heaping blessings more in abundance. Many of the joys have come from devel- oping fellowship and love with other stu- dents at school. Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christi' Phil 116. This work includes God's leading after graduation. The Lord will clearly guide us into His service. ,f ,WW FQ db , g. '? I 5 lx ,N P .. 7 1. E i ' 'ix c5c5ie Jones The closer I came to God while at Western, the more aware I was of my sinfulness and my need to utterly focus my attention on Jesus Christ. Because there is nothing in me that attracts the acceptance of God, only my substitute, Jesus Christ, is my basis for acceptance before the Father. 'gs vt .syw 'W' f Ian ,Uifz Life is not easyg not even four years at Western. But we can finish our lives and hear our Master say, We1l done. , if all our life we keep our eyes on our goal - Jesus Christ. F 'D R' f ,ww f ll 12 'Eyes .Dooney The lesson that the Lord has impres- sed upon me most while I've been here at Western is how I should trust Him more. It isn't always easy to trust Him, but I know that He will continue to bring things into my life that will teach me to trust my Master more., Here's a poem that really means alot to me: I do not know what still awaits Or what the morrow bringsg But with the glad salute of faith, I hail its opening wings! For this I know - that in my Lord Shall all my needs be metg And I can trust the heart of Him Who has not failed me yet. 13 . 5 In the fall of 1968 a young girl from Lexington, Nebraska, hailed the campus of Western Bible Institute full of anticipation of what Bible school would hold for her. This girl was Marvel Tedrow. In just a few hours I had a job and a number of new friends to help ease the parting pains of leaving family and friends behind. I enrolled on the Sacred Music Minor and music played a great roll during my four years at Western. In June following my third year of school Ibecame Mrs. Mike McGuire. Later while serving in an assistant pas- torate in Lexington, Nebraska, another member was ad- ded to our family, Michele. I am thankful for God's strength through Christ to enable me to be a student, wife and mother during my years at Western. c1767 ar vel cJ7l7c Suire g M.. X Www , 50 f if I 'Y' 5 'il im ciliiller Tw After four years at W.,B.l. the one sure thing I've learned is this: the Christian life is a process, and this process involves diligent discipline daily. One of the greatest pitfalls of any bible school student is that of be- coming so academic that we lose our practical walk. One of the biggest blessings is that of ministering to the Body of Christ at school and learning how to work within it. Of course, the greatest blessing and the thing I will take with me in remembering W.B.I., , is that of coming to know more fully the the Lord Jesus Christ through His Word l 1 1 :Belinda Spilman You know, the gate is a good place to head for when you're down. So, one night last week Qin Marchj that's where I went. On the way back I started thinking of each building here on cam- pus. Many people complain about the buildings here at Wes- tern, and I must admit that I have been caught in this too, but as I look back over the last four years, I give God thanks for each one of them. I can hear it now . . . WHY? Well, really it's not the walls or the floor, but the many, many people God allowed me to meet under their roofs. The people I lived with, ate with, studied the Word of God with. The people I shared my life with. I thank God for each thing they've added, for each rough edge they've sanded off. I Thess. 5:24 has been the verse that has meant the most to me this year. As I have waited for the Lord to show me what He wants for my future. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass. He has called me, He will work it all out. Q., Ni . , - X , ,, , 1' X- K, I6 New arry E i ison My years at Western have been a mixture of observing and learning. I have learned in the classes because each was informative and a challenge. I think the greatest enjoyment that I have had at Western is watching people change as the Word of God enters their hearts. I also thank God for the faculty and the Wise counsel that they give to students. Each time I needed help I found good ad- vice and an open, concerned counsellor. I also thank God for each student because each person changes us and through them God makes us grow. I am thankful for the time I have been here and am some- what sorry to see it pass. 1 tr Saw-wg JBIJF 6625 i t 3 Q3 if is I3 K fx Q 1 V L .1 . ' L xQL - - H ', 1 1 K? X - V X vyy, . It is my heartfelt desire according to the divine will of God that I pour my life into Western and its students. My greatest incentive in coming to Western was the challenge of see- ing young lives molded for Jesus Christ, and insuring that they left school able to minister effectively. President House, who is also the father of three growing boys, Mark, age ll, Torrey, age 8, and Paul, age 7, commented on his future in this way: I would like to spend the rest of my ministry here at Western. It is a difficult job and I need its challenge all the time to keep me effective. Western holds a new challenge for me each passing day. I'm sure the future holds the same. 40 Rug Q, M f ri .fowlier c73usiness cf manger Sarah Grandad, Kristie and Mark This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I arn chief QI Tim. 1:15j. Western Bible Institute provides an opportunity for many people to invest and share in the work of the Lord. The Development Office provides a variety of programs, such as annuities, trusts, life income agreements, and development notes. Information is available without obligation by contacting our office on campus. I count it a real opportunity to work in a position that helps further the Lord's work and also assists individual Christians with their investment and financial needs. 44 Isle QWGE sl n A cfegisirar Commit thy way unto the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass QPsa. 37:51.
