L WESTERN BIBLE INSTITUTE POST OFFICE BOX 9332 DENVER, COLORADO ZIP CODE 80209 1972 ives ' glow abundanf life fo us Masters of deceit come to steal away, but Christ came just to give. His lifeblood drained upon the tree that the abundant life we might live. Abundant not so much in size, or shape, or quantity, But rather in those precious things composing quality. It's not a life granting your every wish and desire, But one furnishing results to stand the trial by fire. He became poor that we might be rich: that's what He spoke about- A life so filled only those Who haven't encountered it can doubt. We have just to depend upon Christ's storehouse glorious, For we realize only through Him can life become victorious. As Christ is the Vine and we the branches abiding, We see it's a life bearing fruit-even others guiding. God's grandest gifts are held in trust for those who will obeyg lt becomes a life, excitement mounting, each pace of the way. The abundant life is one so filled with Christ and all He gives, That it overflows engulfing others that they too may live. befh jones . . fhe .lay of fhe ard is yo frengfh. elzemiah 8 I YG icafio N v.,, i it 3 , we , - X is mis 0 is elsle helen Steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord - this typifies the nature and character of those to whom we dedicate this edition of LIVES AGLOW. Only such persons as the Fick sisters could follow the rugged schedule that they do. From 4:30 a. m. to the end of the day, they consistently make wise use of their time, even one working while the other drives. Because of their labor, we recognize that WBI is indebted to the Fick sisters for the role they have played in the school's history. They have watched WBI grow from its be ginnings on the second floor of the First Christian Church -i,n Englewood to its present status. And Miss Helen could tell you how she was anticipating a Christian Serviceman's Center before finding herself involved with WBI. Miss Helen and Miss Elsie have endeared themselves to us in many ways. They have brightened our days with their friendly smiles and cheerful greetings, Their mature wis dom and spiritual counsel have helped us along the way to a better life. A faithful love for us and their love for our Lord Jesus Christ have challenged us. They have selflessly given of their very lives in so many little ways. So it is with great pleasure that we dedicate this annual to Miss Helen and Miss Elsie Fick, as we consider them our double portion from the Lord. Dear Student, Even though I have been on Western Bible Institute campus for only four months, a number of interesting and exciting phrases and idioms have come to my ears from students - Statements like life-style living, acceptance of self, proper self-image and other related expressions. Yes, Iwould fully agree that a correct attitude toward self is vital for your Christian walk and ministry. However, almost every day some form of the expression of being like Christ has been intimated. It is my fervent prayer and desire that each of us is constantly being conformed to the image of God's own Son. The Apostle Paul admonishes those at Galatia, my little children, with whom I am again in labor until Christ is formed in you. And the Apostle James pointedly com ments, in the exercise of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, so that we might be as it were the first fruits among His creature. May each of us reflect the Son in his walk, ministries, and home and to a sin- sick world. Un ' e co s, A rian House President The great man hunt is over! After more than two years of searching, a new president has been found for Western Bible Institute. The Board of Trustees announced recently that 36 year-old Adrian House of Whittier, California, has been named tofill the top administrative post vacated by Dr. Stanley Toussaint in 1969. The appointment was greeted by cheers from the WBI student body. Mr. House, a long time booster of WBI, has been associated with Biola' College since 1968 Where he is presently Alumni Director. During this period he has also seen faculty service at Talbot Theological Seminary, teaching classes in personal evangelism and church plant- ing. According to one colleague, there was no one among the entire faculty and staff of both Biola College and Talbot Seminary who is more highly thought of and respected. Before accepting his post at Biola, f,Mr. House distinguished himself as a fjxastor and leaderin churches in Nebras- and Wyoming. His last church in Cheyenne, Wyoming, he s ta rted with only four people and in just four years saw its congregation grow steadily through a consistent ministry of visita- tion and evangelism. The new president has also gained some reputation in rec ent years as a dynamic evangelist. He is constantly in demand for evangelistic meetings, Bible conferences, and youth gatherings all over the Western portion of the country. Mr. House did his undergraduate work at Biola College and later received his Mastor of Religious Education degree from Denver Theological Seminary in 1962. Before beginning his academic training, Mr. House served in the United States Marine C0 rps where he found Christ as his Saviour. Mr. House is married to the form- er Juanita Hummell of Denver. His mother-in-law, Mrs. Bonnetta Hummell, was a former dorm mother here. The Houses have three boys: Mark, Torrey, and Paul. 42 1 97m Qgaauyufoalibn of lhe ggefuwenzl Jfchlklnz QWMZM 4M ewlewkhzf af Wbafecn walk Qgnalalufe Zhuaw 4, 4972 JMQ8 wk. ,S X l 1 U 1+ I 1 w ! X Reschke, the wild Roman. The Thip T fhink laws going to be sink When in Rome--do as the Romans do AIMS' After the Lord had delivered Israel out of the hands of Pharaoh at the Red Sea., Moses composed a song bo commemorate the deliverance. Ever since the Lord's people have been a people of song, for as Moseslwrote, f'Tl2e .Lord is my strength and song . . . . ll In response to His mercy and grace and iovingkindness, the hearts of his people are filled with melodies of psalms and hymns and spirimal songs. Music flows naturally from the experience of God's people as a re- sponse to His working in them. As praise and worship, the fruit of our lips is a pleasing sacrifice offered to the Lord by believer priests. It is, more- over, an evidence of the Spiritls filling and a genuine ministry by which believ- ers can serve one another. 6700 li -1 -1, --rw - ,-'.+L.A5-w,1QFip..ei 'ff ' R553 .sw . 4.
