Changes occur every year. Some are mourned. Others are applauded. Some are exhilirating. Others stupifying. Many innovations make a lasting contribution. Most prove to be mere novelties. Regardless of their merits, however, you must learn to relate to the changes that touch your life. In the whumgush and pother of life, you must fix your gaze steadily on the unchanging Lord, Jesus Christ, who is revealed authoritatively by the New Testament. I trust the time invested here at W. B.I. this year has taught you that you cannot be a Christian alone. If this edi- tion of Lives Aglow will serve to remind you of the pre-eminence of the Lord and of your need for fellowship with the other members of Christ's body, it will be worth more than the nostalgia promoted by all the other annuals ever published, read and wept over. In the fellowship of the body, I Paul O. Wright E'- ,QKJ For my Interim President I9 lf' Vw, 'fO Q0 IYVI fav alK af ' 'gg' 'Q' . e A ' . . Dr. Wright, We the students of Western Bible Institute, are impressed with the qualities which you consistently live before us: Stability in times of conflict and opposition, Scholarship of high degree in the midst of superficiality, Sincerity and truthfulness when others are afraid to express themselves Concern when others fail to notice our needs, Dedication to a job that demands it, Practicality in your approach to the Christian life. Therefore, we dedicate this the 1970 edition of Lives Ag1ow to you as a symbol of our appreciation to you and the impact which you have had on our lives. x U Tix W AIDMHNIISWFXUQN STAFF mwuw b , 412 C 0 V , n 4.603 W I 4 .ff lui' 5 '-'?.. :-:Z Administration and Faculty 'mn-4 PAUL O, WRIGHT ROBERT C. ARNDT Cheney, Kansas Minor: Missions I was privileged to be raised in ba Christian home which lead to my salvation at the age of I2. After two and one- half years in a university and two years in the army, I fi- nally gave up my will and let the Lord have His will by coming to WBI. While here at Western, I have been pre- paring myself to better serve the Lord. The Lord willing, Pat and I will be operating a bookstore in Europe under the Worldwide European Fel- lowship in the near future. Isaiah 52:10, The Lord hath made bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God. PATSY L. ARNDT Basin, Wyoming Bible Diploma I accepted the Lord as my Savior when I was five years old. I am very thankful for the life which Christ has giv- en me. My years at WBI have been interesting and a real time of growth in my spirit- ual life. Trusting the Lord to continue to lead us, we hope to be serving Him in Europe under the Worldwide Euro- pe an Fellowship. Galatians 2:20, I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me. 555, . ELIZABETH BEE Fort Collins, Colorado Bible Diploma I feel that my time at West- ern has been very profitable. I have come to a deeper know- ledge and relationship with Christ. Among the things I gained at Western, I also gained a husband. We have no definite plans for the future, but feel that the Lord is lead- ing us into camp work. Proverbs 3:5-6, T ru s t in the Lord with all thine heartg and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. 4 ' I CHARLOTTE COX Conifer, Colorado Bible Diploma I accepted Christ in April of 1966. Prior to that, I claim- ed to truly know Christ be- cause I received my beliefs from parents and church. Through the four years that I have spent at WBI, I have come to realize, after many doubts, that my faith in christ is now my own, and not a hand-me-down. Next year I hope to enter Licensed Prac- tical Nurse training, but that is still in the Lord's hands. John 16:33, These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have trib- ulation: but be of good cheery I have overcome the world. tf,g -Q .. ALVIN L. GWIN Columbus, Ohio Minor: Missions C h r i s t revealed Himself to me on June 8, 1960, at the Christ Can Conquer camp in Taiwan. The testimony of missionaries, pastors, and other Christians has helped me to grow in the Lord as well as a time of personal study in the Word of God. In 1965, God led me to WBI to f u rthe r my relationship with and knowledge of Him. These five ye ars have been years of learning experiences for whic h I thank the Lord. Upon graduation I plan to further my education in the field of music and serve the Lord in some type of music ministry. Psalm 16:8, I have set the Lord always be- fore megbecause He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. JOHN HOBSON Denver, Colorado Minor: Pastoral The Lord, through v a r io u s means, lead my wife and I to Western for training in His service. Recently, we were lead to make preliminary application to Overseas Christian Servicemen's Cen- ters. Our preliminary appli- cation has been accepted and now we are making our final application to this mission. I.ICorinthians 5:15, And that He died for all, that they which live should not hence- forth live unto themselves but unto Him which died for them, and rose again. 9 xxx .ax 1 ,KN XX . . . X.. I'm grateful to the Lord that I was at Western and was in- fluenced by the teachers, friends, and classes here. I plan to go to a Christian lib- eral arts college where I will study for my teaching certi- ficate. Philippians 1:6, Be- ing confident of this very thing, that He which hath be- gun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. CHARLES JOHNSON Denver, Colorado Minor: Pastoral Since God made me His child in April 1956, I have known that His will for me was to be a minister of the Gospel. As He guided, Ifollowed to this school, and later to the Rocky Mountain Bible Church, Fris- co, Colorado as pastor. My plans are to continue as pastor there as long as God desires. God has impressed Galatians 2:20 to my heart, I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in meg and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered up Himself for me. NASB JEAN L. LEWIS Novelty, Ohio Bible Diploma The few years here at West- ern have been wonderful years. The Lord has brought me closer to Himself and has taught me muc h concerning the responsibilitie s of the Christian life. I plan to go on for further training and then my husband and I look for- ward to Christian s e r v i c e. Yielded believers with a world- vis ion--a world-burden--could make the difference. 942, of the world's population lives outside of the United States. The purpose of the Missions Department at Western Bible Insti- tute is to confront students with the need, to challenge each to accept his responsibility, and to stimulate action in obedience to Christ's command. Christ died for the world, the world can only respond to Him when Christians communicate the Word. We set several goals at the first of the year and the Lord enabled us to meet most of these. Our primary purpose was to create interest and involvement in missions among the students. At the start of the year, we began giv- ing toward a monetary goal of 31,000 for our missionaries at conference. In October, classes were dismissed for Missions Conference. Our gift for the missionaries totaled iBl,074.79. At the Banquet, we also announced our new faith-promise goal of 33,174.,25. To increase involvement and interest, we had a meeting each month to promote missions. Don Hillis, Rich Cannon, Margaret Laird and several excellent films challenged us to become involved in reaching a world without Christ. May the efforts of the past year have true value in eternity. Besides the singing we do as a school family, about one-third of the students are actively involved in musical ministries outside school. We seek to involve the hearts of saved and unsaved, to help studetns gain a knowledge of how to effectively handle music as a tool in their future Christian ser- vices, to help them learn how to choose music that will truly honor and magnify the Lord as they strive for certain goals of ministry, and to seek to help in the gaining of poise and confidence in standing before people giving the Word in music or spoken testimony people giving the Word in music or spoken testimony. We praise the Lord for what He has accomplished through the ministry of sacred music during this year of school at WBI.
