Class Motto -- CHRIST IN ALL School Colors Crimson Red - Royal Blue STATEMENT OF PURPOSE Western Bible Institute exists for a single purpose only, and that is to train yielded Christian young men and women most effectively to give God's Word to a lost and dying world. The School was founded in confidence that the Bible is God's Word and that it is all-sufficient to meet the spiritual needs of souls. Con- sequently all of the work is shaped in accordance with the conviction that the training which alone is essen- tial for all forms of Christian work is a thorough working knowledge of God's Word. The Western Bible Institute seeks consistently to confine its work to giving this essential training. Every part of the course has been introduced either to impart a clear knowledge of the vital, fundamental teachings of the Bible, to induct the student into a thorough familiarity with the principles which govern all real Bible study, to facili- tate his application of those principles in his own study or to assist him clearly and effectively to impart those truths to others. The Western Bible Institute does not seek primarily to give the student a mass of informa- tion about the contents of the Bible, but its first pur- pose is to train each student to be an independent Bible student, able to dig out the knotty problems of Bible study for himself and qualified to be of the greatest blessing and help to others in solving their spiritual problems and answering their soul-questions. Only yielded Christians who are permitting their lives to be molded by the teachings of the Word are qualified to render the best service in any form of Christian work. So in the Western Bible Institute con- stant emphasis is laid on the training of the heart and life, as well as the mind. Each student is dealt with personally as problems and questions arise, and lov- ing, Vprayerful efforts are made to mold and develop each life in accordance with the plain teachings of the Bible. No one is accepted as a student in the Western Bible Institute who does not express his willingness to cooperate in this effort to develop his life under the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit. Romans 10: 15 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Graduate -- Western Bible Institute Conservative Baptist Theological Seminary Dean -- Western Bible Institute Pastoral Experience -- 5 years Instructor -- Distinctions, Principles, Personal Evangelism, Music, Missions, Synoptic Gospels The students of Western Bible Institute are happy to dedicate this first annual to the Dean, Rev. Earl Bethurum. He is the one person who knows the students intimately and personally. To him goes our hearts' gratitude for his ever ready willingness to discuss our joys and our woes. when we dedicate this to him, it is with the desire and the hopes that as its pages are turned, old memories will be relived, memories of what tribulations we have caused him, as Dean, and of what blessings he has been to us and the lessons which the Lord has taught us through them. PRESIDENT DR. CARL C. HARWOOD,JR. Carl C. Harwood, Jr., Th.B., D.D. Denver Bible College Graduate -- Western Bible Institute University of Denver President -- Western Bible Institute Pastor -- Moody Gospel Church Instructor -- Dispensations, Distinctions We praise God for our president. He is a man who has a zeal for God and love for us as students. Although, we do not see him often, because of his heavy duties, yet, we count it a real joy to pray for him and work with him. We wish to attribute our thanks to God for giving our president a real burden and a real heart for missions. We are confident that in the years to come, the school will continue to grow and certainly continue to honor the Lord. Because of him, the students have also caught the vision for missions. . .. z Aff.-if . Student Missionary Guild t tuuu u t t uuuttt u FOREIGN STUDENTS ROBERT PRASAD JOSEPH LULICH ALIFERETI YAYA Over half of the population of the Fiji Islands is Indian. The Indians in Fiji do not have peace. The answer to this is Christ! I have found Christ and am happy in Him. Please pray for me as I prepare to go back to my people, and pray also for my people who are dying without salvation. I left Italy in August, 1957 after accepting the Lord Jesus as my Saviour, to come to the western Bible Institute in Denver, Colorado to prepare to return to the Italian people with the truth of redemption found in Christ Jesus alone. I want to return as soon as possible to tell my people of the peace which I have found in Christ. Please pray for me as I prepare to return to my people, the Fijians, as a medical missionary. Only about 100 years ago they ate the first missionary who set foot on our soil. I received my Bible training at the Western Bible Institute and thank God for the way that He led me and brought me to this school where I received a good, clear foundation of God's Word.
