I I Q -o December 9, 1910, Nancy and Bony Shoemake welcomed the tenth of their eleven children into their humble home in Porum, Oklahoma. Little did they realize as they cuddled their new-born son Voar that he was destined to become a chosen vessel for the Lord. Three wonderful and outstanding events happened to Bro. Shoemake when he was twenty-three years of age. God marvelously filled him with the baptism of the Holy Ghost and called him into His service. Bro. Shoemake's love for God and his compassion for lost souls burned in his heart until he felt he had to tell the world that Jesus saves. He had no bible of his own, but this didn't stop Bro. Shoemake from preaching. He borrowed a bible and took for his text, God's Spirit will not always strive with man. In the same year, 1933, Bro. Shoemake met a lovely, sweet, and dedicated young lady named Blanche Kilgore. Their friendship soon blossomed, and they united in marriage to work together for the Lord. Sis. Shoemake has worked faithfully with her husband, and God blessed them with four precious children who are all serving the Lord and working in His vineyard. Bro. Shoemake was ordained in 1934. He evangelized in the Mid-West and pastored several churches in Oklahoma until he came to South Modesto, California in 1949. He was Vice-President of the Tulsa Bible College from about 1944-1947. Bro. Shoemake and family arrived in San Jose, California in 1951. The first church consisted of 18 people who assembled in a home for services. After much toil, patience, and prayer this humble Shepherd of God led many souls to the Master. From a small gathering of 18 souls,God has prospered this man and his flock with over 500 in Sunday School attendance. In addition to being the shepherd of a good church in San Jose, California, Bro. Shoemake is serving as a member of the Foreign Missions Department of the United Pentecostal Church International. Through the years Bro. Shoemake has been a friend and loyal supporter of Western Apostolic Bible College. On different occasions, he brought several men from his church to help on building projects at WABC and the First Pentecostal Church. His financial contributions have been a blessingto the progress of the school. Not only his labor and finances are appreciated, but also his willingness to serve as a counselor and teacher at the College for two years is appreciated. This was especially welcomed during the time of the late Clyde J. Haney's sudden demise. Bro. Shoemake's patient counseling with students and his Spirit-filled teaching in the classroom will live on in the lives of many students from WABC. To this worthy man of God, Reverend F. V. The hunger for a person to be right in the influx of this gigantic move of God gnaws at the souls of men. Hunger is a natural drive, but if those hunger pains go unheeded, unsatisfied, it will cause frustration, sickness, and finally death. We have had the pains of hunger for many years, and just as we are about to starve to death, we have come to realize that the storehouse of Apostolic prayer, power, miracles is not empty. This mighty storehouse is located right in our backyard within the reach of an extended hand and hungry heart We at WABC are feeling the birth pains of this strange spiritual era. The chapel services have become vital spiritual experiences The atmosphere of the classroom seems to become an almost audible voice shouting in desperate tones, f'Feed me the Word I must have the Word please give me more and more of the Word! It seems as though we have been granted a new dimension in absorbing the Word of God Faith is beginning to mount in our hearts A new era of the Old Apostolic Power by the coming of the Lord We of this generation are so blessed of God' To us has been given the privilege to awake early enough to see the Dawn The Dawning of a New Era The Editorial Staff , .Zh - . . . , l iiffz i: 9 f ' . . . ,.
