s .s 'p,s che ' 3 WR If the pioneers of the past and those who prepared the way for the truth we hold would presenta message to the graduating class of W.A. B. C. , I'm confi- dent it could be concluded with this scripture: Look to yourselves, that we lose notthose things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. It cost something in toil, tears, and trials for those champions of faith and pioneers of Pentecost to bring you to where you are today spiritually and doc- trinally. May you never fall prey to the old confidence game that has gone on in the religious world and which calls for laying aside the widsom and foresight God has given. Never neglect or forsake God's Word which is more precious than life in order to gain something supposedly greater. What can be greater than Pentecost, the Revelation of Jesus, or the Word of God which is forever settled in heaven? ' May you retain the indomitable spirit that graced the martyrs and the courageous might of our forefathers and allow the great truths they embraced and fought for to continue to hold a vital place in your hearts and lives. Do not esteem lightly things they loved dearly or sell cheaply things they paid such a price for. Ever endeavor to reverse any trends that may seek to gain a footing among you and rob you of your vital spiritual life and power. Graduates of '59, - always maintainasense of God-consciousness, and con- centrate on being spiritually alive rather than on being clever. With the Psalmist you can say, Ihavea GOODLY HERITAGE. Never lose it by softness and self-indulgence. I. E. Klemin

c 'J Greetings V We again take our pen in hand to write our message to the '59 classes. From our study win- dow we are able to look out over a portion of the great San JoaquinValley that lies' nestled be- tween the giant Sierras and the Pacific Coast Range. This valleyhas incorporated in its name the noted outlaw of the early west, Joaquin Muri- ' eta. As a child I would often sit by my grand- father's side and listen as he told of the daring and thrilling experiences of their covered wagon journey - of Indians and outlaws that challenged the Pioneers of the old west where a man's gun was his law, and the gold that was gathered by the ton from the placer mines. Today, while the white face cattle roam the ranges and gold still continues to be extracted from the GOLDEN WEST, many things have changed. Men must now dig hard and deep for the yellow oreg cattle men must study and figure to meet the challenge of a scientific age that demands purer and higher breeding in their livestock. Yet the men who win and conquer are those who possess the daring and persevering spirit of the old west- ern pioneer. Today, we feel it's not by accident, but providential that nestled in the midst of the San Joaquin Valley in one of its rich metropolitan areas is a Bible Schoolcalled THE WESTERN APOSTOLIC BIBLE COLLEGE. As we lift our eyes to the whitened harvest field, we can see the monuments and landmarks of our Pioneers. We listen as they tell the daring and thrilling stories of how they gathered the golden grain of souls by the hundreds, and how they smiled thru storm and death. Today, we seea different condition on the fieldgwe face an educated, scientific age. There is a demand for hard study and preparation to face the field. Men must dig deep beneath the surface to reach the golden souls of men: yet the same spirit of the daring, challenging faith that motivated our pioneer fathers in the old days must ever be ours. Our success or failure depends on this pioneer spirit. The WesternApostolic Bible College has endeavored to extract the challeng- ing, persevering faith our Pioneer fathers and ministers had and to instill it in our young men and women who are to face the field. Already we are able to thank God for those who are blazing trails among the Indians in Arizona, others are making their way toward danger zones of foreign frontiers, and others are pioneering churches in the homeland. From the pen of one of the greatest Pioneers of all ages, we quote: 'Who shall be able to separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or dis- tress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?...Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors thru Him that loved us. May God help us to boldly face our new horizons with the spirit of the pioneer and make our theme a living, factual reality, GOD'S BEST FOR THE WEST. Clyde J. Haney
