Summer Break - A Time To Prosper By the time June arrives each year, most students have long decided where they’ll be spending their summer. While some demand the beach and waterfront scene as the ultimate in summer pleasure, others venture into the working world to discover the bonuses and the drawbacks to summer employment. Ideally these job opportunities afford students the chance to earn some money and, in some cases, to work in a new environment with entirely new acquaintances and, best of all, without the pressures of the school year. 4 Determined to make the sale, Susan Capalbo (above) personally models the latest shade of eyeshadow at JCPenny’s. “Sorry but we really don’t carry size 3 of Pierre Cardin in our inventory,” responds the ever-cheerful Margaret Smith (right) at Gabrielle’s of Watch Hill. “Okay, first you wanted three black coffees, two with sugar, one without. Then you changed the three coffees to four, one with sugar and three without. Now you want only four hot chocolates and a muffin?” sighs an exasperated Jenn Aiello (far left) as Bess Eaton Donuts. With Brian King (left) as your friendly grocer, there’s not time like the present to “Stop and Shop.” Standing behind the counter at Watch Hill’s Just Baked Pastry Shop, Timothy Babcock (above) slowly hands a package of baked goods to his customer as he sadly realizes that he’s just sold the last eclair. Dressed in bright summer casual wear of her own, senior Carla Carboni stocks the racks at Dancer’s Corner in downtown Westerly with cool active-wear for the warm summer months. 5
