LUMS RESTAURANT 148 Granite Street, Westerly EDWARD T. MORENZONI Superintendent WARREN PELTON Assistant Superintendent To the Class of 1976: My best wishes for a happy and successful life upon graduation from Westerly High School. We hope that we have provided you with the proper educational program that will enable you to succeed in your future endeavors. Remember that there can be difficult times, as well as good times, in your life and I sincerely hope that you will have the stamina and courage to overcome any difficulties that you might encounter. Again, my best wishes to each of you for much success. It has been a pleasure to be associated with such a fine student group as we have in the Westerly school system. Very truly yours, EDWARD T. MORENZONI Superintendent of Schools 34 GERALD M. DUNN Principal SALVATORE AUGER! Assistant Principal To the Class of 1976: In the midst of all the national interest in celebrating our nation’s Bicentennial, I want to direct your attention to a special facet of this national celebration which each of you truly represents. Each member of this graduating class of 1976 is proud testimony to a tradition and a goal established by our forefathers, even before the writing of the Constitution — the dream of public education and its value to our culture. Each of you is a unique realization of the hope and confidence that America has always placed in its citizenry. Graduating in the 200th Year of our country’s existence, the Class of 1976, across the nation, is perhaps the most significant and appropriate birthday gift that America has given to herself. I congratulate you upon your good fortune to be such a valuable part of the Bicentennial celebration and encourage you to keep the fine tradition of American Education vibrant and meaningful as you become the responsible citizens of America’s Third Century. Sincerely yours, GERALD M. DUNN Principal SENIORS CLASS HISTORY Three years. For some it has been too long; others have felt it was days of good times. But everyone agrees it has been an experience. Our sophomore year seemed different in many ways, but it was a beginning, a chance to meet people and grow as individuals. Becoming involved in school activities, getting our feet wet, and our first formal prom, Through The Looking Glass, highlighted our year. Even though we were but sixteen, the eighteen-year-old vote would soon be power in our hands. In two years it would be our chance to get involved in civic affairs and help form a new society. Hopefully the wait would pass quickly. We left much behind that June, but in our junior year we had the opportunity to establish the traditions which 38 came to be known as those of the Class of 76 . The spirit of Christmas filled the air of our December dance. We concluded the year with our Junior prom, We May Never Pass This Way Again. Those words are all too true. Our senior year. We have wondered at confusion, instability, and corruption in the world around us. Many begin losing interest, direction, and ideals. Others begin to think of independence, new faces, and challenges which will shape our tomorrows. It seems difficult for many of us to leave friends who have become our security, but there are many things to be grateful for. Fondly, we will remember June, 1976. Now let us contemplate opportunities, work to achieve dreams, and begin from this day. 39 Jon Solis PRESIDENT Sheila Bergel TREASURER SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS Rosemary Pescatello SECRETARY Karin Silva SOCIAL CHAIRMAN Tom Capalbo VICE PRESIDENT URSULA EVELYN AHERN Urs” Wrinkles should merely indicate where smiles have been.” Business Dept.
