Therefore, you must loam to think for yourself, and to value democracy because it gives you freedom to think. When you think rationally yon will realise that if you want to remain free you must learn to ooooerate, rather than compete. You will not io things beeauae you want to get ahead of others , but rather to get along with others . Tou will give as mich as you csn to mankind, rather than try to get as much as you can for nothing. a-t iDr eci£ttion. Soon the golden doors of life will swing open and beckon us to our fate. The yesterdays have passed into lingering memories; the tomorrows hold our future promises. Soon we shall have to leave our childhood fantasies behind us, and step into a world of reality. The world is full of tribulations, but we will meet them with conquering hearts, remembering the kindness and understanding you have portrayed. We shall never be afraid, as long as we follow the pattern of courage you have woven. We shall walk with our heads held high, retaining the honor you have taught us to acquire. When we fall under life's disappointments, we shall remember the patience you have shown, and we shall rise again. Most important of all, when life’s road becomes a quagmire of confusion and crushing despair, we shall pray for strength, and we shall continue onward. And so, the class of 1962, wishes to extend to you, Mr. Steiner, Mr. Pellegrino, and Mr. Sipes, our heart felt gratitude in return for the guidance and unselfishness which have carried us through our high school years. We leave Westerly High with deep appreciation for all you have done for us.
