Before long, February was here again, and in preparation for the Sweetheart Swing, we chose Joan Rindell and Nancy Gen-carella as candidates for the Queen of Hearts. Matt Lewiss and Carolyn Giorno, Co-Chairmen of Garden of Roses, did an excellent job on our first prom. The theme was carried out to a T” with a miniature waterfall and fresh colorful flowers. The peculiar odors and noises emitted from Room 13 can be accredited to Carolyn Giorno, Ruth Vars, Jacquie Joy, Pat Nardone and Dave Youden, the chemistry team of ’56. The Class of 57 takes credit for introducing standardized uniform class rings. We did this to promote the idea of W H S. graduates having uniform class rings each year, not two or three styles as in the past. We elected Pat Nardone and Matt Lewiss to be our junior Yearbook representatives. With Leap Year on its way, we forestalled plans for a Leap Year Dance. In June of 1956 we bade our seniors farewell by sponsoring their Senior Reception. As Chairman, Theresa Negri made our last activity with the seniors a memorable one. As seniors we comprised the North Star,” the brightest star in our sky of memories. The show of a potential leader was evident when James Lepikko was elected for his third consecutive term as President.
